Kevin Bond On Hayter Move

Last updated : 30 May 2007 By Bournemouth Co-Ordinator
Speaking in the Bournemouth Evening Echo, Kevin Bond is quoted as saying: "James told me on Tuesday morning that he wanted to make the move, so that was that really. My policy will always be that I wouldn't want to keep a player at the club against their wishes. Doncaster made an approach and I was duty-bound to tell the player. James has been here an awfully long time and I have a lot of respect for him. I told him I wanted him to stay but he told me I want to hear what they have got to say'. He'd gone away to think about it, perhaps had a look to see if there is any other interest and he's now decided he wants a fresh challenge. I'm never keen to lose our better players and James is guaranteed to score goals".

Bond went on to say that he knew that he would never be able to compete with the financial clout of Doncaster Rovers when trying to negotiate a new deal to keep Hayter at Dean Court.
