Paul Merson was relieved to snatch a point in Saturday's game against Barnsley "just before he took it I said to the physio that I had never seen us score from a free-kick" and with that Walsall scored from a free kick to secure a point!!

Luton Town boss, Mike Newell admits that there's plenty of work for them to do if they're going to in with a shout for promotion "we need to keep the ball better and when we've got teams on the rack we have to put the game beyond them. At the start and the end of the season you tend to grind out results, not many teams begin very well and we will get better. We are delighted with the start but you can see that there is room for improvement".

Oldham Athletic have signed goal keeping trialist Craig Mawson having impressed during a 2 week trail for the Boundary Park outfit.

Still with Oldham, their captain Dean Holden may have landed himself in hot water with the football authorities for making gestures towards their own fans. In an statement issued later he says: "I wish to apologise to all our supporters for the way I gestured at our away following after the final whistle on Saturday. In the heat of the moment I reacted to a small minority who were making obscene gestures towards me and it is an incident I deeply regret".
