League One Reveiw - Sept 24th

Charlton Athletic have established a 3-point gap at the top following a 3-1 win over Chesterfield at The Valley. Hayes (19th min) and Jackson (29th min) gave the Addicks a 2-goal lead going in at the break. A Whitaker penalty in the 72nd minute reduced the arrears before Wright-Phillips made sure the points in the 92nd minute. Charlton Athletic 1st, Chesterfield 15th.

Sheffield United slipped up against lowly Wycombe Wanderers at Adams Park with Beavon scoring the only goal of the game just after the half-hour mark. Wycombe Wanderers 20th, Sheffield United 2nd.

Hartlepool United maintained their best ever, and undefeated, start to the season with victory over AFC Bournemouth at Dean Court despite Gregory putting the Cherries ahead in the 37th minute. Solano restored parity in the 42nd minute, leaving Horwood to score the winner in the 87th minute. AFC Bournemouth 18th, Hartlepool United 3rd.

Notts County managed to see Rochdale off at Meadow Lane with a 2-0 win. Lee Hughes put the Magpies ahead in the 35th minute. But the points were not made safe until Sodje popped up with a goal in the 94th minute. Notts County 4th, Rochdale 21st.

Preston North End managed to edge Tranmere Rovers out with a 2-1 win at Deepdale. Alexander put PNE ahead in the 37th minute from the penalty spot, with Baxter levelling on the hour. The winner came in the 71st minute courtesy of Mayor. Preston North End 5th, Tranmere Rovers 11th.

Brentford managed to climb back in to the play-off places with a 2-0 win over Oldham Athletic at Boundary Park. Douglas (38th min) and Weston (73rd min) did the business to make it a good afternoon for the side from SW London. Oldham Athletic 12th, Brentford 6th.

Sheffield Wednesday made light work of Exeter City at Hillsborough with a 3-0 win. O'Connor in the 40th minute with a brace from Madine (43rd and 75th min penalty) was more than enough for the Yorkshire side to maintain their push for a play-off place. Sheffield Wednesday 7th, Exeter City 23rd.

Huddersfield Town maintained their undefeated start to the season, but failed to win over struggling Leyton Orient at the Galpharm. Lee and Hunt gave the Terriers a 2-goal lead with strikes in the 22nd and 67th minutes, only to see the O's bounce back after McCombe was sent off in the 84th minute with goals from Lisbie (85th min) and Chorley (91st min). Huddersfield Town 8th, Leyton Orient 24th.

Carlise United managed to edge past Stevenage Borough at Brunton Park with a 1-0 win. Murphy scored the only goal of the game in the 27th minute. Carlisle United 10th, Stevenage Borough 13th.

Colchester United managed to edge Walsall at their Community Stadium as Wordsworth scored the only goal, from the penalty spot, in the 33rd minute. Colchester United 14th, Walsall 17th.

Scunthorpe United finally manage to record their first League win of the season, at the 10th time of asking as they managed to sneak past Yeovil Town at Glanford Park. Mozika gave Scunny the lead in the 44th minute, with Wotton levelling from the penalty spot deep in first half stoppage time. Mozika scored what proved to be the winner 8 minutes in to the second half. Scunthorpe United 16th, Yeovil Town 19th.

The remaining game in League One saw Bury (22nd) draw 0-0 with Franchise FC (9th) at Gigg Lane.
