Southend United could be promoted on Easter Monday, but could have made it almost certain of automatic promotion on Good Friday - but Gillingham had other plans! A Black goal on the stroke of half time sealed 3 points for the Kent side, leaving the home side to it out for a while longer! Southend United 1st, Gillingham 12th.

Brentford could not take advantage of Southend's Friday slip as they could only draw 2-2 against battling Rotherham United at Millmoor. Mullin had put United ahead just before the break (on 42 mins), but that was cancelled out in the 67th minute by Owusu. The home side restored their advantage a minute later by Shaw, but that too was cancelled out when Rankin equalised in the 80th minute. Rotherham United 20th, Brentford 2nd.

Colchester United also couldn't take advantage as they were also held to a 2-2 draw - away at Chesterfield. O'Hara gave the home side a great start after just 2 minutes, which was added to by a Hall penalty in the 17th minute. Yeates pulled one back just before the break, with the comeback complete in the 72nd minute by Iwelumo. Chesterfield 15th, Colchester United 3rd.

Huddersfield Town were also failed to win! This time a dogged AFC Bournemouth side held their own (and now an undefeated run of 6 matches) to a 1-1 draw at Dean Court. Fletcher had given the Cherries the lead in the 33rd minute, but it was not enough as Taylor-Fletcher netted from 2cm for the equaliser in the 70th minute. AFC Bournemouth 16th, Huddersfield Town 4th.

Swansea City also could not take advantage of the slips elsewhere as they went down to a Parker goal in the 58th minute at Bloomfield Road against Blackpool - giving the home side a vital boost in their quest for survival! Blackpool 18th, Swansea City 5th.

Of the leading Clubs, only Barnsley were capable of collecting 3 points, which came at the expense of a play-off chasing Oldham Athletic side at Boundary Park. Shuker got Barnsley off to a flying start after the re-start with a goal in the 48th minute, which was added to by McPhail in the 61st and Devaney in the 78th minutes. Oldham Athletic 8th, Barnsley 6th.

Nottingham Forest are closing in on a play-off place and took another step towards a top-6 finish with a 1-0 away win at Prenton Park, against Tranmere Rovers. the only goal of the game came from Holt in the 16th minute. Tranmere Rovers 17th, Nottingham Forest 7th.

Bristol City piled on more pressure to struggling Hartlepool United at the Victoria Ground with a 2-1 away win - their 6th of the season. Nobel (12 mins) and Russell (37 mins) gave City a 2-goal cushion at half time. The deficit was halved by Williams in the 82nd minute, but didn't inspire the equliser. Hartlepool United 21st, Bristol City 9th.

Bradford City came out on top in the Yorkshire derby against Doncaster Rovers with a 2-1 win at Valley Parade. An Emanuel brace in the 19th and 26th minutes gave the home side a 2-goal lead at half time. McCormack pulled one back in the 67th minute, but it wasn't enough to claim a point. Bradford City 11th, Doncaster Rovers 10th.

Scunthorpe United have made sure of their League One status for next season as they claimed their 7th away win of the campaign with victory against Yeovil Town at Huish! The only goal of the game came in the 56th minute from Sharp. Yeovil Town 19th, Scunthorpe United 13th.

Port Vale claimed a point away at struggling Walsall. Constable had put the home side ahead in the 49th minute, but that was not enough to claim a vital win as Fortune levelled with 5 minutes to go, breaking Walsall hearts in the process. Walsall 22nd, Port Vale 14th.

Swindon Town and Franchise FC battled out a key relegation 6-pointer at the County Ground with the Franchisees coming out on top! Platt scored the only goal of the game in the 64th minute to give Franchise FC a chance (sadly) of avoiding the drop! Swindon Town 23rd, Franchise FC 24th.
