With three matches left, and a 5 point advantage, Luton Town are just about assured of the League One title as they were helped by a Chorley own goal to beat Franchise FC at kenilworth Road. Luton Town 1st, Franchise FC 20th.

Hull City claimed the second automatic promotion place in League One, and successive promotions having been held to a 0-0 draw by Swindon Town at the KC Stadium. Hull City 2nd, Swindon Town 12th.

Hull's promotion was confirmed when news filtered through that their nearest rivals, Tranmere Rovers, had also been held to a 0-0 draw. Keeping the Wirral side at bay was Blackpool. Tranmere Rovers 3rd, Blackpool 15th.

Meanwhile, the race for the remaining play-off places hot up. Hartlepool United put their claim in for a play-off place with an emphatic 3-0 home win over Sheffield Wednesday. Boyd claimed the match ball as he netted in the 2nd, 18th and 58th minutes. Hartlepool United 4th, Sheffield Wednesday 7th.

Jeckell and Hyde AFC Bournemouth extended their away winning streak to 6 with a 3-2 win at Chesterfield. The Spirites made Bournemouth work for their win as Allision put the home side ahead on 17 minutes. Steve Fletcher levelled just after the break, and Brian Stock put the visitors ahead on 63 minutes. Blatherwick drew the home side level in the 76th minute, and probably thought that a point was safe. It was until Steve Fletcher claimed an injury time winner!! Chesterfield 16th, AFC Bournemouth 5th.

Brentford's push for a play-off spot came seriously off the rails at Valley Parade, where Bradford City thumped them in a 4-1 score line. The damage was done by half time as Dean Windass (6 & 37) and Bridge-Wilkinson (23 & 45) made sure that the Londoners were going home empty handed. All it left was Brentford to claim a consolation in the 79th minute through Tabb. Bradford City 11th, Brentford 6th.

Bristol City have just about sealed Wrexham's fate for this season, as Murray secured a single goal win in the 66th minute. Wrexham are 8 points off safety with 5 matches left. Bristol City 8th, Wrexham 22nd.

Huddersfield Town were held at home by Colchester United in a 2-2 draw. Danns had the cheek to put the visitors ahead in the 19th minute, only to see Abbott level a minute later. Schofield put Town in front in the 62nd minute and probably thought that the points were staying in Yorkshire. That would have been true if it wasn't for Chilvers netting in the final few seconds! Huddersfield Town 9th, Colchester United 14th.

Just to rub the salt on to the wounds of Stockport County, Doncaster Rovers came along and did just that, with a 4-2 win at Edgeley Park. Ravelhill got the ball rolling for the visitors in the 2nd minute. But County, to their credit levelled and got their noses in front before half time through Allen (28) and Le Fonfre (45). All well and good, but Green (72), McIndoe (82) and Brown (87) had other ideas! Stockport County 24th, Doncaster Rovers 10th.

Barnsley were managed to claim a point Oldham Athletic, whose League One future still hangs in the balance. Johnson put the Oakwell side ahead on 6 minutes, only to see Killen (37) and Beckett (66) put the visitors ahead. Johnson came to the rescue in the 79th minute with the equaliser. Barnsley 13th, Oldham Athletic 19th.

Walsall secured their League One status for another year, while pushing Peterborough United to the brink of relegation. Only a miracle will save them now! The Saddlers secured their status with a 2-0 win at London Road through Standing (64) and Wrack (76). Peterborough United 23rd, Walsall 17th.

Lastly, Torquay United gave themselves a huge boost to their survival hopes at Plainmoor against Port Vale. Everyone must have thought that the game was heading for a 0-0 draw. Until Constantine stepped up to convert an injury time winner right at the death! The result leaves Torquay United in the drop zone on goal difference only with Franchise FC! Torquay United 21st, Port Vale 18th.
