Southend United were justly held by AFC Bournemouth at Dean Court, in a 1-1 draw. The visitors took the lead with their first shot on target in the 20th minute through Eastwood after the ball ping-ponged around a conjested penalty area. The Cherries equalised with 8 minutes left of the clock when Hayter connected with a free kick. AFC Bournemouth 17th, Southend United 1st.

Brentford were held on their travels in the game of the day at Layer Road against Colchester United. Tabb fired the visitors ahead in the 5th minute, but had to settle for a point when Iwelumo levelled on 30 minutes. Colchester United 4th, Brentford 2nd.

Huddersfield Town draw level with 2nd place Brentford after their 1-0 win over play-off contenders Barnsley in front of a 19052 crowd at the Galpharm Stadium. Taylor-Fletcher scored the only goal of the game in the 54th minute. Huddersfield Town 3rd, Barnsley 7th.

Oldham Athletic claimed a stake in a play-off places following a draw on Friday night against strugglers Hartlepool United at the Victoria Ground. Bullock fired the home side ahead in the 8th minute before Beckett converted a penalty on the stroke of half time. Hartlepool United 20th, Oldham Athletic 6th.

Nottingham Forest boosted their outside chances of a play-off place with a 3-1 away (their third of the season), against Chesterfield at Saltergate. Breckin put Forest in to the lead in the 18th minute, and then saw that extended 10 minutes later by Tyson. Picken pulled one back 4 minutes later for the home side. The points were made safe when Thompson made it 3-1 in the 87th minute. Chesterfield 13th, Nottingham Forest 8th.

Similary Doncaster Rovers maintained their outside chance of a play-off place with a 3-1 home win over troubled Rotherham United. Roberts and Thornton gave Rovers a dream start with goals in the 5th and 9th minutes. Forte pulled one back for Rotherham in the 14th minute, before Guy made sure of the points in the 20th minute! Doncaster Rovers 9th, Rotherham United 21st.

Bradford City are probably safe for another season, following a 4-2 thrashing of Scunthorpe United at Valley Parade. Windass fired the home side ahead with an early goal in the 6th minute. But that was cancelled out by Beagrie in the 12th minute. Hinds then put the visitors ahead in the 28th minute. After the break, Bradford re-asserted themselves on the game as they hit back with 3 goals in 6 second half minutes. Windass got his second of the afternoon in the 53rd minute, Bridge-Wilkinson made it 3 in the 55th. Windass then secured his hat trick in the 59th minute! Bradford City 10th, Scunthorpe United 14th.

An impressive crowd of 15889 saw Bristol City take on Yeovil Town at Ashton Gate. The majority of whom went home happy as City ran out 2-1 winners. Orr put the home side ahead in the 12th minute, which was added to by McCammon in the 20th. Davies pulled one back for Yeovil in the 63rd minute, but it wasn't enough! Bristol City 11th, Yeovil Town 19th.

Port Vale must be looking over their shoulders as the bottom 4 get a bit closer to them! Especially so after their 3-0 Friday night defeat at the hands of Tranmere Rovers at Prenton Park. Zola gave the home side a first half lead in the 27th minute, which was added to after the break by O'Leary in the 57th minute, and Davies in the 77th. Tranmere Rovers 12th, Port Vale 16th.

In another key relegation 6-pointer, Blackpool came out on top against Walsall at Bloomfield Road, running out 2-0 winners. Williams and Southern claimed the all important 3-points with goals in the 48th and 56th minutes. Blackpool 18th, Walsall 22nd.

Swindon Town (23rd) were left without a game as they were due to play Swansea City (5th). However, the Welsh side were involved in the Final of the Football League Trophy at the Millennium Stadium, Cardiff, against Carlisle United. Trundle gave Swansea the lead in the 3rd minute. Murray then equalised in the 40th to send the sides in level at the break. Akinfenwa scored the all important winner in the 81st minute.
