Walsall head the pack at this early stage, but were held at home against Southend United at Bescott and were denied a Club record of 8 straight wins. Gray gave the newly promoted side the lead just after the break, but were pegged back with 2 quick strikes through Fryatt (65) and Leitao (68), before Goater rescued a point for the Essex side in the 89th minute. Walsall 1st, Southend United 10th.

Brentford slipped to 2nd by virtue of the fact that they are travelling to face 11th placed Port Vale (live on Sky Sports) on Monday evening.

Huddersfield Town gave Swansea City a sound lesson in League One football. Swansea didn't help their cause by finishing the game with 9 men on the pitch. Booth gave the home side the lead on 27 minutes, before Trundle levelled on 32 from the penalty spot. Abbott restored the home sides advantage 4 minutes before the break. Swansea's O'Leary was shown red for elbowing Worthington (67). The numeric advantage was made good use of as Schofield extended the lead 9 minutes later. Iriekpen rounded off a bad day at the office when he was sent off for foul and abusive language. Huddersfield Town 3rd, Swansea City 5th.

A Dean Windass double (27th min pen and 52th min) were enough to see off the Franchisee's at Valley Parade, giving Bradford City a 2-0 win. The visitors had Chorley sent off in the 26th minute. Bradford City 4th, Franchise FC 22nd.

Oldham Athletic travelled to Prenton Park on Friday evening to face Tranmere Rovers, who comfortably saw them off in a convincing 4-0 win. Greenacre secured a half time lead in first half stoppage time before Sharps (54), Roberts (77) and a 90th minute penalty for Greenacre made sure of the points. Tranmere Rovers 9th, Oldham Athletic 6th.

Pre-season promotion favourites Bristol City were seen off by AFC Bournemouth at Dean Court. Brian Stock curled a free kick in the 20th minute, before Jamie Hayter converted a penalty in the 50th minute. AFC Bournemouth 7th, Bristol City 24th.

Gillingham let 2 away points slip at Scunthorpe United. Hessenthaler scored from a thunderous shot in the 61st minute, before Hinds equalised in stoppage time at the end of the game to secure a share of the spoils. Scunthorpe United 13th, Gillingham 8th.

A remarkable 8 players were booked at Saltergate as Chesterfield lost their second home match in a week, this time going down to a single goal defeat at the hands of Rotherham United. Butler scored the only goal of the game in the 59th minute. Chesterfield 17th, Rotherham United 12th.

Daly secured Hartlepool United's first win of the season away to Doncaster Rovers. His 45th minute strike was the only goal of the game. Doncaster Rovers 20th, Hartlepool United 14th.

Single goal wins seemed to the the order of the day, as Colchester United won by the same score at Layer Road against Barnsley. Iwelumo secured 3 points in the 48th minute. Colchester United 18th, Barnsley 15th.

Who said that life in League One would be easy? If anyone at the City Ground was saying that a week ago, I doubt if they are now after Nottingham Forest went down 2-1 at the hands of Swindon Town at the County Ground. Fallon gave Swindon the lead on 31, before Commons levelled 8 minutes later. O'Hanlon secured Swindon's first win of the season in the 73rd minute. Swindon Town 19th, Nottingham Forest 16th.

Yeovil Town entertained Blackpool in a 1-1 draw at Huish. Murphy put the visitors ahead in the 15th minute with Amankwaaah levelling on the stroke of half time. Yeovil Town 23rd, Blackpool 21st.
