Port Vale continue to excellent start to the season with their 4th win in as many matches with a narrow single goal victory over Chesterfield at Vale Park. Downes firsed the visitors in to the lead in the 22nd minute, but that was cancelled out by Constantine in the 43rd minute. There was then a goal rush in 10 hectic second hanf minutes which settled the tie. Firstly Pilkington put the home side ahead in the 76th minute, which was cancelled out by Folan in the 84th. But is was not enough for a share of the points as Constantine scored his second of the afternoon in the 86th minute to maintain Vale's 100% start to the season. Port Vale 1st, Chesterfield 5th.

Nottingham Forest had to come from behind to maintain their 100% start to the season against Brighton & Hove Albion at the City Ground. The Seagulls had taken a first half lead through Robinson in the 38th minute, but that was made to count for nothing as Holt scored a brace to secure the points. His first goal came from the penalty spot in the 62nd minute, with the second goal to secure the points coming 13 minutes from the end. Nottingham Forest 2nd, Brighton & Hove Albion 8th.

Bradford City are not too far off the leading pair, maintaining their good start with an emphatic 3-0 away win over Crewe Alexandra at Gresty Road. Johnson scored his first of the afternoon in the 43rd minute. This was followed up 6 minutes after the re-start through Bridge-Wilkinson and 5 minutes later Johnson's brace was completed in the 56th minute. Crewe? Still looking for their first win of the season! Crewe Alexandra 23rd, Bradford City 3rd.

Brentford maintained their unbeaten start to the season with a 2-2 draw with Huddersfield Town at Griffin Park. Kuffour scored the first of the afternoon in the 69th minute, only to see that cancelled out by Schofield 2 minutes later. Kuffour then out the home side ahead again in the 88th minute, only to see Beckett level for the visitors in the 90th minute! Brentford 4th, Huddersfield Town 6th.

Carlisle United maintained their good start to the season by beating fellow new boys Leyton Orient at Brunton Park. Gall got the home side off the mark in the 23rd minute, which was followed up just after the break by Hawley in the 48th minute, and Gall scoring his second in the 58th minutes. Leyton Orient netted a consolation in the 67th minute through Steele. Carlisle United 7th, Leyton Orient 11th.

Tranmere Rovers kept up with the chasing pack with a 2-1 home win over Yeovil Town at Prenton Park. Ellison had fired the home side in to the lead in the 34th minute. Cohen levelled matters for the Somerset side in the 43rd minute. Mullin settled matter early in the second half (53rd minute) to ensure that the points remained on the Wirral. Tranmere Rovers 9th, Yeovil Town 12th.

Newly promoted Cheltenham Town are beginning to find out what life is like in League One as they lost to AFC Bournemouth at Dean Court. Fletcher volley home a cross in the 2nd minute to claim the first goal of the day. The joy lasted 13 minutes when McCann first home from 30 yards. But the last laugh when to the home side when Best scored the winner in the 55th minute. AFC Bournemouth 16th, Cheltenham Town 10th.

Swansea City chalked up their first of the campaign with a 2-0 home win over Doncaster Rovers at the Liberty Stadium. Lee Trundle did the damage with 2 goals in the 82nd and 90th minutes to secure the points for the Welsh side. Swansea City 13th. Doncaster Rovers 14th.

Northampton Town helped pile the pressure on to Gillingham at Priestfield with their first win of the season. The only goal of the game came from Kirk in the 22nd minute. Gillingham 21st, Northampton Town 15th.

Millwall also managed claim their first win after a gloomy start to their season with a single goal win over Oldham Athletic at the New Den. Hubertz claimed the only goal in the 78th minute to keep the Millwall faithful happy. Millwall 17th, Oldham Athletic 19th.

Bristol City are struggling to start the season in a convincing manner once again. Going down to a 4-2 home defeat at Ashton Gate against Blackpool didn't help matters! Vernon put the visitors ahead in the 26th minute, only to see that cancelled out with a strike from Showunmi in the 42nd minute. Jackson put the visitors ahead again in the 49th minute, but again Showumni levelled matters, this time from the penalty spot in the 63rd minute. Undeterred, Blackpool regained the lead through Parker in the 76th minute and secured the 3-points in the 88th minute through Graham. Bristol City 20th, Blackpool 18th.

Finally in the round up, Rotherham United and Scunthorpe United who battled out a 3-goal scrap, which saw Rotherham United come out on top as they look to wipe out the initial 10-point deficit! Sharp had put the visitors ahead in the 5th minute, but that lead didn't last long as Bopp levelled a minute later. That's how the scores stayed until just before hald time when Mills scored what proved to be the winner in the 44th minute. Rotherham United 24th, Scunthorpe United 22nd.
