Just in case anyone thought that Nottingham Forest were about to give up their pole position, then think again as they put Port Vale in their place at the City Ground in a convinving 3-0 home win. Tyson got Forest off to a good start with a goal in the 13th minutes, which was followed by a brace from Holt in the 65th and 90th minutes to secure the win. Nottingham Forest 1st, Port Vale 10th.

Scunthorpe United maintained their hold on 2nd place with a single goal victory over Chesterfield at Glanford Park. Scoring the winner in the 49th minute was Sharp. Scunthorpe United 2nd, Chesterfield 15th.

Oldham Athletic are on a real charge at the moment, securing their 4th away win of the campaign in a 5-goal thriller at Millmoor against Rotherham United. Porter gave the Latics the lead in the 29th minute, with Haining extending that lead in the 42nd minute. Bopp reduced the arrears for the the home side in the 54th minute, only to see Porter re-establish a 2-goal advantage in the 67th minute. Hoskins converted a penalty for the home side, but it wasn't enough to claim a point. Rotherham United 21st, Oldham Athletic 3rd.

Bristol City left it late (again) to claim a point having been 2-down against a side at the wrong end of the table. This time AFC Bournemouth visited Ashton Gate and had the cheek to take a 2-goal lead through Pitman (16 mins) and Browning (47 mins). The fight back started when Murray pulled one back in the 74th minute, and completed when Johnson netted 6 minutes later. Bristol City 4th, AFC Bournemouth 22nd.

Swansea City notched their 5th away win oif the season as Crewe Alexandra slip closer the relegation places. Trundle bagged a brace in the 3rd and 23rd minutes with Lawrence practically securing the win in the 47th minute. A Varney consolation was not enough to salvage anything for the home side. Crewe Alexandra 16th, Swansea City 5th.

Blackpool slipped in to a play-off place as they beat Carlisle United at Bloomfield Road with a 2-1 win. A Murphy own goal in the 5th minute wasn't a good start, which was added to by Parker in the 29th minute for the home side. United's consolation came through Hawley in the 73rd minute. Blackpool 6th, Carlisle United 12th.

Yeovil Town visited the south coast at Withdean and came away with a superb 3-1 away win against Brighton & Hove Albion. Best put the Somerset side ahead in the 38th minute, with Morris and Davies adding to the score line in the 47th and 59th minutes respectively. Gatting netted a consolation for the home side in the 72nd minute. Brighton & Hove Albion 13th, Yeovil Town 7th.

Tranmere Rovers are slipping at the moment, they cam unstuck at the Galpharm Stadium against Huddersfield Town. Booth had put the home side ahead in the 9th minute. Rovers came back to claim the lead through Greenacre strikes in the 39th and 51st minutes. A point was salavaged for the home side in the 60th minte when Schofield converted a penalty. Huddersfield Town 17th, Tranmere Rovers 8th.

Doncaster Rovers continue to move in the right direction. This time a single goal victory over Heffernan (14 mins) was enough to claim the points in the Yorkshire derby against Bradford City at Valley Parade. Bradford City 14th, Doncaster Rovers 9th.

Gillingham left it late to claim the points against a renewed Leyton Orient side. The east-London side were looking good for the points after Walker had put the visitors ahead in the 35th minute, but a fight back changed all that in the final 10 minutes. A own goal from Saah in the 81st minute followed by a penalty conversion from Ndumbu-Nsungu completed the comeback. Gillingham 11th, Leyton Orient 19th.

Northampton Town secured only their 2nd home win of the season, and increased their home scoring record by 40% with a 2-0 home win over fellow strugglers Cheltenham Town at Sixfields. McGleish scored the home side's first on the stroke of half time and then scored the second in the 74th minute. Northampton Town 18th, Cheltenham Town 23rd.

Finally, the Boxing Day round up is completed with the relegation 6-pointer in London between Brentford and Millwall at Griffin Park. Hubertz fired Millwall ahead in the first minute, and then doubled the lead with his second of the afternoon in the 57th minute. Robinson made it 3 in the 62nd minute. The home side claimed one back in the 78th minute when O'Conner netted from the penalty spot, but the points were heading back to SE London when Byfield scored from the spot for the visitors in the 83rd minute to secure a 4-1 away win! Brentford 24th, Millwall 20th.
