All change at the top as Brentford toppled Swansea City at Griffin Park to reclaim top-spot. The home sides 2-1 win came courtesy from strikes from O'Connor in the 25th minute and Hutchinson in the 34th minute. The 2-0 lead was achieved after Swansea's Tate was sent off in the 23rd minute after a 2nd bookable offence. The consolation for Swansea City came in the final few seconds after Robinson netted. Brentford 1st, Swansea City 2nd.

Huddersfield Town couldn't close the gap on the top as they were held 1-1 away from home by Rotherham United, who were unlucky not to claim all 3 points! Burton put the home side ahead in the 7th minute before Taylor-Fletcher levelled in the 90th. Rotherham United 20th, Huddersfield Town 3rd.

Barnsley were held at home by Hartlepool United even though Richards put the home side head in the 27th minute from the penalty spot. United equalised in the 49th minute through Williams. Barnsley 4th, Hartlepool United 13th.

Southend United draw a blank against Franchise FC in a 0-0 draw at Roots Hall. Southend United 5th, Franchise FC 22nd.

Colchester United slipped up unexpectedly away from home against Swindon Town. The only goal of the game came through Fallon in the final few moments of the game. Swindon Town 24th, Colchester United 6th.

Chesterfield drew 2-2 away to Scunthorpe United. Hall gave Chesterfield a dream start in the 3rd minute. Then Nicholson exteneded the lead in the 57th minute from the penalty spot. Scunny then produced a fight back to rescue a point as Baraclough pulled one back in the 64th minute. The comeback was complete in the 89th minute when Johnson levelled. Scunthorpe United 5th, Chesterfield 7th.

Nottingham Forest scored a 4-0 key win over Doncaster Rovers at the City Ground. A half time lead was achieved with a 45th inute strike through Breckin. Then Thompson extended the lead in the 49th, quickly followed by Southall in the 52d minute. Taylor completed the scoring in the 66th minute to complete the rout. Nottingham Forest 8th, Doncaster Rovers 10th.

AFC Bournemouth went off to Yeovil Town and claimed a 1-1 draw in their first league encounter. Hayter put the Cherries ahead in the 19th minute from the pnalty spot. Jevons then levelled from the same penalty spot with 10 minutes to go! Yeovil Town 16th, AFC Bournemouth 9th.

Oldham Athletic won the battle of the roses at Boundary Park with a 2-1 home win over Bradford City. Butcher gave Oldham the dream start in the 7th minute, which was extended 5 minutes later through Beckett. Windass reduced the deficit on the stroke of half time, but it was not enough to claim a pont. Oldham Athletic 11th, Bradford City 14th.

Walsall and Tranmere Rovers generated a 0-0 draw at the Bescot Stadium. Walsall 12th, Tranmere Rovers 21st.

Port Vale slipped up at home against Blackpool in a 2-1 reverse. All 3 goals came in 6 second half minutes. Wiles put Blackpool ahead in the 51st minute. The lead was doubled in the 53rd minute through Parker. Vale then pulled one back in the 57th minute. Port Vale 17th, Blackpool 19th.

Finally for League One over the first round of Christmas matches, Gillingham were forced to come from behind to claim a point from Bristol City at Priestfield. Murray put City ahead in the 9th minute. But the Gills levelled in the 68th minute through Flynn. Gillingham 18th, Bristol City 23rd.
