Swansea City were made to work for their point at home to Colchester United. Iwelumo put the visitors ahead in the 12th minute, with Robinson levelled in the 28th minute. Swansea City 1st, Colchester United 6th.

With Swansea City dropping points, Huddersfield Town had the chance to close the gap, but failed to do so as they lost 2-0 away to bottom club Bristol City. Murray put City ahead in the 4th minute, with Cotterill doubling the advantage in the 79th minute. Bristol City 23rd, Huddersfield Town 2nd.

Brentford also failed to close the gap on the leaders as they could only raw against Chesterfield at Griffin Park. Hall put the visitors ahead in the 18th minute. Brentford left it late to equalise through O'Connor in the 81st minute. Brentford 3rd, Chesterfield 7th.

Barnsley well and stuffed Scunthorpe United at Oakwell with an emphatic 5-2 scoreline. Devaney and Hassell gave Barnsley the perfect start with goals in the 1st and 6th minutes. Richards extended the lead in the 32nd minute. Shuker gave Barnsley a 4-goal advantage in the 70th minute. Beagrie pulled one back from the penalty spot in the 88th minute. Hayes restored a 4-goal lead in the 89th minute. Then finally in the final few minutes MacKenzie pulled it back to 5-2. Barnsley 4th, Scunthorpe United 17th.

Southend United continue to slip after a confident start to the season. Bradford City took the lead at Roots Hall in the 32nd minute through Schumacher. Southend United levelled through Gower on the stroke of half time. Southend United 5th, Bradford City 11th.

Nottingham Forest were held at home by Walsall at the City Ground. Fryatt put the Saddlers ahead in the 5th minute. Forest levelled through Breckin in the 34th minute to share the points. Nottingham Forest 8th, Walsall 15th.

Fenton and Roberts fired Doncaster Rovers ahead in the 12th and 22nd minutes against Franchise FC at the National Hockey Stadium. Smith pulled one back for the Franchise holders in the 72nd minute. Heffernan restored the 2-goal advantage in the 85th minute. Wilbraham pulled it back to 3-2 in the 86th minute to set up a grand stand finish. Franchise FC 20th, Doncaster Rovers 9th.

Hartlepool United collected their first home win in 3 attempts with a 2-1 over AFC Bournemouth at Victoria Park. Istead put the home side ahead in the 27th minute, which was followed by a second from MacDonald in the 38th. Foley pulled one back for the Cherries, but that's how it stayed. Hartlepool United 12th, AFC Bournemouth 10th.

Oldham Athletic were made to work for their point at home to Swindon Town at Boundary Park. Swindon took the lead in the 11th minute through O'Hanlon with McDermott extending the lead in the 47th minute. Oldham then hit back through Wellens in the 55th minute and Liddell in the 70th to ensure a share of the points. Oldham Athletic 13th, Swindon Town 24th.

On a generally good day for the bottom sides, Port Vale were taken to the cleaners by Gillingham at Priestfield, who claimed their 7th home win of the season. Harris put the home side ahead in the 40th minute, which was followed by a brace from Jarvis in the 65th and 81st minutes. Gillingham 16th, Port Vale 14th.

Yeovil Town piled on the pressure on Rotherham United with a 2-1 away at Millmoor. Inspite of Burton putting the home side ahead in the 17th minute Yeovil hit back through a Murdock own goal in the 31st. They then scored a goal of their own in the 35th minute through Harrold. Rotherham United 22nd, Yeovil Town 18th. As a result of this home reverse, Rotherham United have since sacked their manager!

Blackpool and Tranmere Rovers left it until the final 10 minutes to find the goal at Bloomfield Road. Facey put the home side ahead in the 80th minute, but had to settle for a share of the points as Clarke levelled in the 90th. Blackpool 21st, Tranmere Rovers 19th.
