Huddersfield Town were probably left wishing that their game had fallen casualty of the weather as Port Vale cruised to a 3-0 away win at the Galpharm Stadium. With the scores 0-0 at half time, the Potteries side took the lead 2 minutes after the restart when Constantine bagged his first of the evening. A second for him came in the 64th minute with the second half rout completed with 11 minutes left to spare as Dinning converted a penalty. Huddersfield Town 3rd, Port Vale 14th.

Southend United made up some recently lost ground with a good 2-1 away win over Hartlepool United. Williams had put the home side ahead in the 19th minute, but Eastwood levelled in the 31st minute. The winner came with 6 minutes to spare as Gray converted a penalty. Hartlepool United 15th, Southend United 4th.

Chesterfield were surprisingly held at home by bottom Club Swindon Town at Saltergate. Hall had put the home side ahead in the 18th minute, but Bouazza levelled for the visitors in the 62nd minute from the penalty spot. Chesterfield 7th, Swindon Town 24th.

Bradford City won the mid-table battle against Walsall at Valley Parade as they ran out 2-0 winners. Both goals came in the first half with strikes from Bridge-Wilkinson (28 mins) and Petta (34 mins). Bradford City 12th, Walsall 13th.

Yeovil Town found it tough on The Wirral against Tranmere Rovers, loosing 4-1 at Prenton Park. Jevons had put the Somerset side ahead in the 31st minute from the penalty spot, which gave them a half time lead. The second half saw Tranmere take the game by the scruff of the neck as Greenacre recorded a hat trick with goals in the 49th, 73rd and 85th minutes. The other goal came in the Zola who netted in the 71st minute. Tranmere Rovers 19th, Yeovil Town 17th.

Bristol City avoided slipping back to the bottom of League One, and are now outside the bottom-4, with a 3-1 home win over fellow strugglers Rotherham United at Ashton Gate. Brooker gave City the lead in the 11th minute, with Murdock levelling in the 26th minute to send both sides in level at the break. Murray put the home side ahead 2 minutes after the restart with Brooker completing his brace in the 76th minute. Bristol City 20th, Rotherham United 22nd.
