League One Review - Feb 13th

Swansea City continued their charge towards promotion as they managed to squeeze past Walsall at the Liberty Stadium. Bodde scored the only goal of the game in the 53rd minute to secure 3 points. Swansea City 1st, Walsall 5th.

Doncaster Rovers are very much in the hunt for automatic promotion as they swept struggling AFC Bournemouth away at Dean Court in a 2-0 win on the South Coast. Price netted a brace in the 1st and 70th minutes to secure the points against a 10-man Cherries side who saw Cooper sent off just before half time. AFC Bournemouth 23rd, Doncaster Rovers 2nd.

Carlisle United lead the next back of clubs in the play-off places as they saw off Huddersfield Town at Brunton Park in a 2-1 win. Livesey gave the Cumbrians a 21st minute lead, which was added to by Graham after the break in the 76th minute. Page netted for the Yorkshire side in the 87th minute, but it wasn't enough. Carlisle United 3rd, Huddersfield Town 15th.

Nottingham Forest could only draw against Leeds United, who have very much lost their way in recent weeks, in a 1-1 draw at Elland Road. Bennett gave Forest a 69th minute lead, only to see Beckford level from the penalty spot with 7 minutes left on the clock. Leeds United 7th, Nottingham Forest 4th.

Leyton Orient slipped to a surprise defeat at home against struggling Crewe Alexandra at Brisbane Road. The only goal of the game came in the 26th minute when Maynard scored for the visitors. Leyton Orient 8th, Crewe Alexandra 18th.

Southend United hardly helped their push for a promotion place by slipping up at struggling Millwall. Granted Bailey did give United a 9th minute lead, but that was cancelled out just before half time by Alexander (41 mins), with Martin scoring what proved to be the winner in the 54th minute. Millwall 20th, Southend United 9th.

Swindon Town probably fancy themselves with an outside chance of makin the play-offs with their first ever win over near neighbours Cheltenham Town at the County Ground. Goals from Cox (20 mins), Paynter (41 mins) and Roberts (80 mins) was more than enough to secure the momentus win. Swindon Town 10th, Cheltenham Town 19th.

Yeovil Town left it very late to secure 3-points against Northampton Town at Huish. Skiverton netted the winner in the final minute of the game! Yeovil Town 11th, Northampton Town 14th.

Having been looking at a possible relegation scrap, Bristol Rovers have hoisted themselves up in to a comfortable mid-table position following a 1-0 win over Oldham Athletic at the Memorial Ground. The only goal of the game came in the final minute from Disley. Bristol Rovers 13th, Oldham Athletic 12th.

Hartlepool United left it very late to secure their win over Port Vale at the Victoria Ground. Vale had taken a 2-0 lead at half time when Herd netted a brace in the 3rd and 15th minutes. Barker pulled one back in the 68th minute with the equaliser coming from Sweeney in the 87th minute. The last gasp winner was secured by Barker by scoring his second of the game in the final few moments of the match. Hartlepool United 17th, Port Vale 24th.

The only other game to be played in League One saw Brighton & Hove Albion (16th) draw 0-0 with Tranmere Rovers (6th) at Withdean.

The game between Gillingham (21st) and Luton Town (22nd) was postponed at Priestfield due to fog.
