Southend United came through a 7-goal thriller at Saltergate against Chesterfield to claim 3 vital points. Larkin put the home side on 26 minutes, which was it for the first half. A second half explosion saw Eastwood get United level, and then ahead with a penalty in the 52nd and 55th minutes. The home side then hit back with two of their own through Niven (62) to level, and Hurst (65) to regain the lead. Goater (72 mins) levelled for the visitors again, before Eastwood completed his hat trick in the 82nd minute. Chesterfield 8th, Southend United 1st.

Huddersfield Town capitalised on a slip by Swansea City with a 5-0 thumping of Franchise FC at the Galpharm Stadium. McIntosh put the home side ahead in the 18th minute, with Taylor-Fletcher doubling the lead in the 23rd and Worthington rounding off a satisfactory half in the 35th minute. Mirfin (76) and Collins (89) rounded off a poor afternoon for the divisions bottom club! Huddersfield Town 3rd, Franchise FC 24th.

Swansea City let 2 points slip away to Scunthorpe United, although they must have thought that they had done enough to secure a win! Sharp had put the hosts ahead in the 5th minute before a Robinson penalty (23) and a Knight strike (27) had the visitors ahead before the break. Torpey then secured a vital point in the 90th minute! Scunthorpe United 17th, Swansea City 4th.

Barnsley cemented their 6th place with a good 1-0 away win against Tranmere Rovers at Prenton Park. The only goal of the game came in the 15th minute through Heckingbottom. Tranmere Rovers 13th, Barnsley 6th.

Oldham Athletic did their chances of a play-off place no harm with a 2-0 win over manager-less Walsall at Bescot. Both of the goals came in the 2nd half when Beckett (71) and Warne (73) secured the all important 3-points. Walsall 22nd, Oldham Athletic 7th.

Doncaster Rovers claimed their 8th home win of the season (2-0) against Gillingham at Belle Vue. Wheater (26) and a McCormack penalty on the stroke of half time, were enough to claim the points. Doncaster Rovers 9th, Gillingham 15th.

Remarkably, Nottingham Forest gained only their 2nd away win of the campaign against Port Vale at Vale Park. Commons gave Forest the lead in the 39th minute, before Tyson made the points safe in the 90th minute. Port Vale 11th, Nottingham Forest 10th.

Bradford City had to come from behind to claim a point against Bristol City at Valley Parade. Brooker had put Bristol City ahead in the 15th minute. But that was cancelled out in the 51st minute by Wetherall. Bradford City 12th, Bristol City 16th.

AFC Bournemouth continue to struggle even though Pitman scored his first League goal for the Cherries in the 4th minute at Dean Court. But it was not enough as Blackpool levelled through Murphy on 61 minute. This before Hayter missed a penalty for the home side. AFC Bournemouth 14th, Blackpool 21st.

Swindon Town and Rotherham United battled out a 5-goal thriller at the County Ground. Cureton fired Swindon ahead in the 19th minute before Butler levelled in the 21st. O'Hanlon put the home side back in front before Barker then levelled for United in the 30th minute. the winner came three minutes after the re start when Butler completed his brace. Swindon Town 19th, Rotherham United 23rd.

Hartlepool United (18th) and Yeovil Town (20th) were without games as Brentford and Colchester United were representing League One in the FA Cup Fifth Round!
