Top spot must be like a hot-potatoe at the moment as we have new leaders at the top of the table. Overall the top 5 are separated by just 5 points.

Tking over at the summit are Sheffield United who came away from Dean Court with a 1-0 win over AFC Bournemouth, thanks to a solitary Murphy strike in the 20th minute. AFC Bournemouth 6th, Sheffield United 1st.

Swindon Town had to come back from a goal down against Preston North End at The County Ground to secure a share of the spoils. Hayhurst gave PNE the lead in the 51st minute, with Rooney levelling in the 75th minute. Swindon Town 2nd, Preston North End 18th.

After their recent wobble, Tranmere Rovers hit back with an emphatic 5-1 demolition of Colchester United at their Community Stadium. Power gave Rovers the lead in the 11th minute, with Okuonghae levelling in the 29th minute, but that's as good as it got for the home side. Goals form Akpa Akpro (41st min), Taylor (65th min), Stockton (85th min) and a penalty from O'Halloran (91st min) blew the home side away. Colchester United 21st, Tranmere Rovers 3rd.

The other big game at the top of League One came at the Keepmoat where Doncaster Rovers took on Yeovil Town. Madden gave the Glovers the lead in the 6th minute, only to see Paynter level just before the break. Doncaster Rovers 4th, Yeovil Town 5th.

Brentford (7th), who are just outside the play-off places, could only draw 0-0 against Walsall (9th) at Griffin Park.

Coventry City were up against Crewe Alexandra (again), at The Ricoh Arena, following their JPT Northern Area FInal tussle, with the the Alex running out 2-1 winners, even though Clarke gave the Sky Blues the lead in the 12th minute. Ellis levelled for the visitors in the 16th minute, with Clayton scoring the winner in the 78th minute. Coventry City 8th, Crewe Alexandra 11th.

Notts County saw Bury off in Friday's evening match at Meadow Lane, even though Schumacher gave the home side the lead in the 24th minute. Kelly equalised in the 58th minute, Zoko netted a brace in the 61st and 65th minutes, leaving Campbell-Ryce to round off the scoring with a 74th minute penalty. Notts County 10th, Bury, 22nd.

Crawley Town managed to get back to winning ways with a 1-0 win over Leyton Orient to leave both in midtable. The only goal came in the 10th minute through Clarke. Leyton Orient 13th, Crawley Town 12th.

Carlisle United and Franchise FC could only manage a 1-1 draw at Brunton Park. Chicksen gave the Franchisee's the lead in the 36th minute, with Beck levelling with 5 minutes left on the clock. Remarkably, no red cards in this game! Carlisle United 16th, Franchise FC 14th.

Stevenage Borough continue to struggle, as they went down 2-1 to Shrewsbury Town at the New Meadow, even though Dunne gave the visitors a 20th minute lead. Goals from Parry (31st min) and Morgan (86th min) sealed a vital win for the Shrews. Shrewsbury Town 17th, Stevenage Borough 15th.

The woes of Portsmouth continue as the Leagues bottom side went down 1-0 to Oldham Athletic at Boundary Park. Baxter scored the only goal of the game in the 11th minute. Oldham Athletic 19th, Portsmouth 24th.

After a dreadful start to the season, can Hartlepool United escape the drop? Light might be at the end of the tunnel as they came away from Glanford Park with a vital 2-1 win against fellow strugglers Scunthorpe United. Poole (20th min) and Franks (37th min) gave 'Pool a 2-goal cushion. Alabi netted in the 77th minute to set up an interesting finish, but it wasn't enough to inspire his colleague to finding a leveller. The win lifts Hartlepool United to within 8 points from safety who are undefeated in 6. Scunthorpe United 20th, Hartlepool United 23rd.
