Southend United maintained their lead at the top of League One with a 2-0 away win over Yeovil Town at Huish. Bentley gave the visitors the lead in the 35th minute, with Goater extending the lead, and securing the points with his strike in the 74th. Yeovil Town 16th, Southend United 1st.

Colchester United maintain the pressure on their Essex neighbours with a 3-1 win over Bradford City at Layer Road. Windass had given the Yorkshire the lead in the 36th minute, but that was cancelled out with a Garcia equaliser in the 40th minute. Garcia then gave the home side the lead in the 55th minute, with Iwelumo making it 3-1 in the 62nd minute. Colchester United 2nd, Bradford City 11th.

Swansea City didn't have to toil too much to secure their 1-0 win over AFC Bournemouth on Friday evening. Robinson netted in the 44th minute for the only goal of the game. Swansea City 3rd, AFC Bournemouth 12th.

Barnsley hoisted themselves up in the play-off places with a nice 2-0 win over Bristol City at Oakwell. A brace from Richards in the 26th and 80th minutes (the latter coming from the penalty spot) was enough to sink City. Barnsley 4th, Bristol City 20th.

Brentford demolished Walsall at Griffin Park in a 5-0 thrashing! Rankin gave the home side the lead in the 6th minute, with Newman extending the lead in the 10th minute. Brooker then made it 3 in the 64th minute which was followed by a strike from Sodje in the 76th and an O'Connor penalty in the 85th. Brentford 5th, Walsall 19th.

Of the leading teams, Huddersfield Town were the only side to drop points, going down 2-1 at Prenton Park against Tranmere Rovers. Tremarco gave Rovers a dream start with his goal in the 3rd minute which was enough in the first half. Zola was sent off for a dreadful 2-footed challenge in the 19th minute. This may have contributed to the visitors levelling just after the break through Graham. But the 10-men rallied such that Facey scored the winner in the 83rd minute. Tranmere Rovers 10th, Huddersfield Town 6th.

Chesterfield were made to work for their draw against Gillingham at Saltergate. Black had given Gillingham the lead in the 47th minute, and must have thought that his goal was going to be enough to secure a 2nd successive away win, but it was not to be as Hall levelled for the home side in the 88th minute. Chesterfield 7th, Gillingham 14th.

A Constantine goal in the 43rd minute was enough to give victory to Port Vale in their trip to Oldham Athletic. Oldham Athletic 8th, Port Vale 13th.

Nottingham Forest were made to work for their point away at Blackpool. bean had given the home side the lead in the 15th minute, with Breckin levelling for Forest in the 44th. Blackpools lead was restored in the 46th minute through Fox and must have though that his goal was enough to win the match. That might have been true if Bennett hadn't of popped up in the 89th minute to claim a point! Blackpool 18th, Nottingham Forest 9th.

Swindon Town gave their chances of League One survival a boost with a 2-1 home win over Doncaster Rovers. Shakes had given the home side the lead in the 29th minute, with Comyn-Platt extending the lead in the 56th minute. McCormack pulled one back in the 63rd minute, but it wasn't enough as the equaliser eluded the visitors. Swindon Town 21st, Doncaster Rovers 15th.

Scunthorpe United stunned the Franchise Holders with 2 goals in the opening 10 minutes as Sharp opened the scoring in the 2nd minute and then scored again from the penalty spot in the 9th minute. Scunthorpe United 17th, Franchise FC 24th.

Finally, Rotherham United and Hartlepool United met at Millmoor and could only produce a 0-0 in this relegation 6-pointer. Rotherham United 23rd, Hartlepool United 22nd.
