Southend United continued their remarkable season with an emphatic 3-0 win over Scunthorpe United at Roots Hall. Eastwood got the home side off to a cracking start with a goal in the 6th minute. The lead was doubled 8 minutes after the restart through Bradbury, with Goater securing the three points in the 74th minute. Southend United 1st, Scunthorpe United 15th.

Brentford maintained their push for automatic promotion with a clear cut 3-1 home win over Barnsley at Griffin Park. Newman and Owusu got the home side off to a great start with strikes in the 11th and 21st minutes respecyively. Wright pulled one back for the visitors in the 67th minute to set up an interesting finish. Owusu converted a penalty in the 84th minute to ensure that the home side collected 3-points. Brentford 2nd, Barnsley 5th.

Huddersfield Town aided Hartlepool United's bid for safety, slipping up 3-1 at Victoria Park on Friday evening. Boyd put the home side ahead in the 9th minute, before Graham levelled in the 21st. Maidens restored the home side's lead in the 52nd minute with Porter making sure of the points in the 81st minute of the game. Hartlepool United 17th, Huddersfield Town 3rd.

Swansea City left it late to collect a point against Walsall as they slowly watch an automatic promotion spot slip away. The visitors stunned the home crowd with a Devlin strike in the 16th minute and probably thought that they had done enough ...... that it until Akinfenwa popped up with a stunning strike with just 3 minutes left! Swansea City 4th, Walsall 21st.

A few weeks ago, it seemed highly likely that the two Essex sides were going to walk away with the two automatic promotion places in League One. Now, it looks like Colchester United will only get a play-off place, and could miss out on that if they are not careful! This time they slipped up against a side just outside the play-off places in the form of Oldham Athletic. The only goal of the game came through Butcher in the final minute of the game! Oldham Athletic 7th, Colchester United 6th.

Chesterfield got somewhat thumped by Tranmere Rovers at Prenton Park, going down to a 4-1 defeat! O'Hara may have put the visitors ahead in the 29th minute, but that is as good as it got for them. Just 6 minutes later Aiston got the home side level, and then 3 minutes after that put them ahead. Greenacre completed the first half turn round with the 3rd Rovers goal on the stroke of half time. O'Leary made sure of the points in the 64th minute. Tranmere Rovers 11th, Chesterfield 8th.

Doncaster Rovers could only manage a draw against Port Vale at Belle Vue. Fortune-West put the home side ahead in the 57th minute, but were pegged back when Constantine levelled with 5 minutes to go. Doncaster Rovers 9th, Port Vale 12th.

Nottingham Forest were held at home by struggling Gillingham at the City Ground. A Bennett own goal in the 7th minute gifte the Kent side with a dream start. But they had to settle for a point when Tyson levelled on the stroke of half time. Nottingham Forest 10th, Gillingham 20th.

Bristol City lifted themselves up to a respectable mid-table position with a Friday night win over Franchise FC at the National Hockey Stadium. The only goal of the game came in 3rd minute through Brooker. Franchise FC 24th, Bristol City 13th.

AFC Bournemouth can do no right at the moment as their run of one win in 14 continued! This time Bradford City collected 3-points at Dean Court through an unmarked Stewart header in the 41st minute. AFC Bournemouth 16th, Bradford City 14th.

The only other matches in League One - Blackpool v Rotherham United and Yeovil Town v Swindon Town both resulted in 0-0 draws. Yeovil Town 19th, Blackpool 20th, Swindon Town 22nd, Rotherham United 23rd.
