League One Review - March 23rd

Last updated : 23 March 2013 By Bournemouth Co-Ordinator

On a day affected by the weather up and down the county the League One programme was disrupted by the snow, with 4 matches falling victim to the conditions.

But that didn't stop Doncaster Rovers from recording an impressive 13th away win of the season at near neighbours Scunthorpe United. A Mirfin own goal didn't help Scunny's cause in the 5th minute, with Hume adding to the home sides misery in the 39th minute. Duffy pulled one back for the home side 4 minutes before the break. Brown restored the 2-goal advantage 3 minutes after the re-start, leaving Hawley to reduce the deficit with 5 minutes to go, but it wasn't enough to inspire a comeback from his colleague. Scunthorpe United 21st, Doncaster Rovers 1st.

Swindon Town couldn't match Donny's win, as they were held to a 0-0 draw by Notts County at The County Ground. Swindon Town 2nd, Notts County 11th.

AFC Bournemouth managed to record a third successive win with a 4-1 victory over struggling Bury at Dean Court. Pitman opened the Cherries scoring in the 8th minute, only to see Bishop level in the 24th minute. Second half strikes from Ritchie (55th min), Arter (80th min) and Tubbs (89th min) sealed the win to keep the Cherries in the mix. AFC Bournemouth 3rd, Bury 23rd.

Yeovil Town let it slip at Brunton Park where Carlisle United came back to snatch a point against the visitors from Somerset. Dawson gave the Glovers the lead in the 25th minute, with Miller levelling in the 39th minute. Goal scoring machine Madden restored the advantage in the 51st minute, with Hayter scoring in the 74th minute. Two late strikes from Miller (90th min) and a 94th minute own goal from Ayling allowed the Cumbrians to snatch an unlikely point. Carlisle United 17th, Yeovil Town 6th.

Portsmouth managed to claim a creditable 2-0 win over fellow cash strapped side, Coventry City at Fratton Park. Goals from Wallace (15th min) and Agyemang (76th min) sealed the win for Pompey. Portsmouth 22nd, Coventry City 10th.

The games involving Preston North End (16th) and Leyton Orient (9th); Hartlepool United (24th) and Walsall (8th) both finished 0-0.

The games involving Sheffield United (5th) and Brentford (4th); Colchester United (19th) and Franchise FC (12th); Crawley Town (14th) and Crewe Alexandra (13th); and Shrewsbury Town (18th) and Oldham Athletic (20th) all fell victim to the weather.

Tranmere Rovers (7th) and Stevenage Borough (15th) are scheduled to play on Sunday.
