They may have been knocked off top spot at the weekend, but Luton Town bounced back with an emphatic 4-1 away win at Plainmoor, leaving Torquay United deep in trouble. Akinfenwa may have put the home side ahead in the 6th minute, but they peaked too early as Luton Town showed resilience to level through Nicholls (23) and then take the lead with a strike from Holmes in the 32nd minute. They made sure of the points through Howard (51) and Vine (71). Torquay United 21st, Luton Town 1st

Hull City, meanwhile, were knocked off top as they slipped to a 1-0 defeat at Boundary Park at the hands of Oldham Athletic. The only goal of the game came in the 71st minute through Killen. Oldham Athletic 18th, Hull City 2nd.

Tranmere Rovers suffered a rare reverse at home to Doncaster Rovers in a 4-2 home defeat. Donny raced in to a 2-goal lead in the first 5 minutes through McIndoe (3) and Blundell (5) before Dadi grabbed one back in the 11th minute with Hall levelling on 44. But that is as good as it got for Tranmere as Donny snatched the points when Ravenhill (52) and Roberts (81) made the game safe. Tranmere Rovers 3rd, Doncaster Rovers 9th.

Continuing the loosing trend at the top was Sheffield Wednesday as they slipped to a 1-0 defeat at Yorkshire neighbours Huddersfield Town on Tuesday evening. The only goal of the game came through Worthing ton on 7 minutes. Huddersfield Town 13th, Sheffield Wednesday 4th.

Hartlepool United were the only side of the current teams in the play-off positions to gain any points, albeit one, when they visited Blackpool in a 2-2 draw. Southern converted a 3rd minute penalty before Boyd struck twice to put the visitors ahead in the 27th and 28th minutes! Blackpool rescued a point through Clarke in the 82nd minute. Blackpool 16th, Hartlepool United 5th.

AFC Bournemouth slipped to their 3rd straight home defeat against Franchise FC at Dean Court in a 1-0 defeat. The only goal of the game came through Edds in the 73rd minute. This after Garreth O'Connor missed a first half penalty. AFC Bournemouth 6th, Franchise FC 20th.

Brentford drew level on points with the Cherries, but remain outside the play-off places as they could only draw 0-0 at home to Peterborough United. Brentford 7th, Peterborough United 23rd.

Bradford City did manage to close the gap on the play-off places with a 3-1 win over League Two bound Stockport County. Cooke (2) and Schumacher (5) got City off to a fantastic start before Le Fondre got one back for the visitors in the 40th minute. Windass made sure of the points in the 64th minute. Bradford City 10th, Stockport County 24th. Even if County win this weekend, they will be relegated if Franchise FC and Walsall both win.

Barnsley
left Walsall closer to the drop zone than they'd have liked as the Tykes ran out 3-2 winners. Kay put the home side ahead in the 37th minute. Then in a frantic opening to the second half Nardiello put the home side 2-up before Joachim (51) and Leitao (53) got Walsall back in to the game again. But all the hard work was undone as Chopra scored the winner with 10 minutes to spare. Barnsley 12th, Walsall 19th.

Finally, Colchester United managed to out do Chesterfield in a mid-table match, winning 1-0 through a Keith goal in the 75th minute.

Those without games were Swindon Town (8th), Bristol City (11th), Port Vale (17th) and Wrexham (22nd).
