League One Review - May 27th

They've dipped out in the past few seasons, but it's congratulations to Huddersfield Town who finally have a successful play-off campaign, this time coming at the expense of their Yorkshire neighbours Sheffield United at Wembley.

After a dull 90 minutes, and equally dull extra time with few clear cut chances, the game went to a penalty shoot out.

Remarkably only 4 of the opening 10 penalties were converted, the others, including the first three for the Terriers were woeful misses. In the end, promotion to the Championship went down to the 22nd penalty as Sheffield United's goal keeper, Steve Simonsen blasted his penalty high and well wide of the mark to spark massive celebrations amoungst the Town faithful to end an 11-year absence from the 2nd tier of English football.

One more issue to be resolved for League One next season. Will it be Crewe Alexandra or Cheltenham Town?
