League One Review - May 3rd

Brentford travelled to the Racecourse Ground, and eventually finished 2-1 winners to condemn Wrexham to life in League Two for next season. Slim suvival hopes for Wrexham looked good as Brentford's Hutchinson scored an own goal in the 6th minute. Brentford hit back in the second half as Rankin levelled in the 68th minute, with S P Fitzgerald nicking all three points with a 90th minute winner. The result leaves Brentford in 5th, assured of a play-off place, while Wrexham are stranded in 22nd.

All of which makes no difference to AFC Bournemouth, we still need to beat Hartlepool United to claim the 4th and final play-off place having now been squeezed down to 7th in the League One table.

In speaking to the Bournemouth Evening Echo, Marcus Browning is quoted as saying: "We've just got to concentrate on trying to win our game and not worry about what is going on elsewhere. Our destiny is in our own hands and although it's going to be a new experience for a lot of the lads, we've got to go out and play with no fear. It's going to be one of the biggest games of your career and you've got to grab it by the scruff of the neck and make the most of it".
