Brighton & Hove Albion suffered their first defeat for a while as they went down 3-1 to Hartlepool United at Victoria Park. Austin gave the home side the lead in the 23rd minute, whcih drew an equaliser from Dicker in the 57th minute. Liddle (71st min) and Poole (84th min) completed the scoring for the hosts to ease them away from the drop zone. Hartlepool United 14th, Brighton & Hove Albion 1st.

Charlton Athletic came away from London Road with an emphatic 5-1 to their name having crushed erratic Peterborough United. The rout started with a 15th minute penalty, converted by Jackson, which was followed before half time with strikes from Racon (25th min), Jackson's second (36th min) and Martin (38th min). McCann netted a consolation in the 54th minute with Martin netting his second in the 65th minute. Peterborough United 8th, Charlton Athletic 2nd.

AFC Bournemouth got back to winning ways in the League with a comfortable 3-0 win over Walsall at Dean Court. A McQuoid hat trick in the 29th, 70th and 87th minutes was more than the Saddlers could handle. AFC Bournemouth 3rd, Walsall 24th.

Carlisle United managed to edge past South Coast Club at Brunton Park, holding on to a 3-2 win. Marshall gave the Cumbrians the lead in the 21st minute, which was added to when Harding put past his own keeper 9 minutes later. Chamberlain reduced the arrears 4 minutes after the restart, with Chester restoring the 2-goal advantage in the 57th minute. Hammond set up an interesting finish in the 81st minute, but it wasn't enough to salvage a point. Carlisle United 4th, South Coast Club 10th.

Oldham Athletic dented the aspirations of Huddersfield Town at Boundary Park as Tounkare netted the only goal of the game in the 24th minute. Oldham Athletic 11th, Huddersfield Town 5th.

Colchester United surrendered their unbeaten away record to Swindon Town at the County Ground as the Wiltshire side eased their way in to midtable with a 2-1 win. Dossevi gave the Robins the lead in the 29th minute, only to see Vincent level in first hald stoppage time. Austin scored the winner in the 54th minute. Swindon Town 13th, Colchester United 6th.

Brentford's recent run of form came to a halt at Griffin Park as Franchise FC helped themselves to a 2-0 win over their hosts, Doumbe (57th min) and Balanta (59th min) killed off any resistance the Bees had. Brentford 18th, Franchise FC 7th.

They might be haunted with the prospect of administration, and a 10-point deduction, but Sheffield Wednesday managed to put all that behind them with a 2-0 win over Rochdale at Hillsborough. Coke (62nd min) and Morrison (82nd min) claimed three important points for the Owls. Sheffield Wednesday 9th, Rochdale 16th.

After their recent poor run Exeter City got back on track again with a 3-1 win over struggling Notts County at St James's Park. Cureton (18th min) and Logan (32nd min) gave the Grecians a 2-goal lead before Hughes reduced the arrears on the stroke of half time. Harley made the game safe in the 66th minute to claim the points. Exeter City 12th, Notts County 21st.

Leyton Orient claimed their first away win since January with a fine 3-0 win over Bristol Rovers at The Memorial Ground. A strike from Cox (20th min) and a brace from Revell (27th and 51st mins) made it a good away day trip for the travelling fans. Bristol Rovers 15th, Leyton Orient 17th.

Tranmere Rovers managed to climb out of the bottom-4 with a 1-0 win over fellow stugglers Plymouth Argyle at Prenton Park. Jennings netted the only goal of the game on the hour mark to seal the win. Tranmere Rovers 20th, Plymouth Argyle 19th.

Dagenham & Redbridge record their first away win in the third tier of English football with a 3-1 win over stuggling Yeovil Town at Huish Park. Antwi gave the Daggers the lead in the 18th minute, but saw that cancelled out with a first half stoppage time strike from Williams. Ogogo restored the advantage in the 81st minute, with Elito putting the result beyond doubt 6 minutes later. Yeovil Town 23rd, Dagenham & Redbridge 22nd.
