Nottingham Forest were made to work for their point at Millmoor as they had to come from behind. Hoskins put Rotherham United ahead in the 59th minute, but had to settle for a share of the points when Tyson levelled for the table topper with 2 minutes to go. Rotherham United 19th, Nottingham Forest 1st.

The batton for the second placed side was handed to Scunthorpe United as they won by a single goal at Glanford Park against Northampton Town. The 3-points were only secured when Crosby converted an 87th minute penalty. Scunthorpe United 2nd, Northampton Town 17th.

As a warm up to their FA Cup encounter in 2 weeks time, Bristol City went 1-up in the bragging rights against Gillingham at Ashton Gate. Flynn had put the visitors ahead in the 15th minute, but saw that cancelled out through a Keogh strike in the 29th minute. After the break Showumni (77 mins) and Murray (90 mins) made sure that the points remained in the West Country. Bristol City 3rd, Gillingham 13th.

Tranmere Rovers maintained their push for an automatic promotion spot with a single goal away victory over Brighton & Hove Albion at Withdean. The only goal came from Greenacre in the 20th minute. Rovers also won the booking count by a healthy 4-2 score line too! Brighton & Hove Albion 12th, Tranmere Rovers 4th.

Swansea City maintained their claim to a play-off place, but left it VERY late to do so! Injury time strikes from Trundle and Butler secured the win away at Vale Park against Port Vale, who were probably feeling hard done by at the final whistle! Port Vale 14th, Swansea City 6th.

Oldham Athletic scored an equally important win, this time over Bradford City at Boundary Park. A Porter brace in the 79th and 82nd minutes were sufficient to see off the visitors. Oldham Athletic 7th, Bradford City 15th.

Before the start of play, Carlisle United were one of three teams without an away win. Now that count is down to two as they notched up their first away day victory at the expense of AFC Bournemouth at Dean Court. The only goal came from the pebalty spot when Hawley converted in the 5th minute. AFC Bournemouth 22nd, Carlisle United 8th.

Crewe Alexandra must have had no idea that when they went in at half time at Griffin Park, against Brentford, 1-up through Varney (5th minute) that the second period would effectively see the end of Leroy Rosenoir as the Bees manager! Rix doubled the lead in the 58th minute, Varney completed his brace in the 63rd and Vaughan simply rubbed salt in to the wounds in the 67th! Brentford 21st, Crewe Alexandra 9th.

Blackpool continue their charge up the table, this time scoring a 3-1 home win over Huddersfield Town at Bloomfield Road. Parker gave the home side the lead in the 26th minute. Southern extended that lead 4 minutes later. Even though Taylor-Fletcher pulled one back before the break, it was left to Morrell to secure the points on the hour mark. Blackpool 10th, Huddersfield Town 11th.

Chesterfield scored a single goal win over struggling Cheltenham Town at Saltergate. The only goal of the game came through O'Hare in the 48th minute. Chesterfield 16th, Cheltenham Town 24th.

Millwall entertained Doncaster Rovers at The New Den in a 2-2 draw. Forte fire the visitors ahead in the 16th minute, with Byfield levelling in the 40th. Price put the visitors ahead again in the 53rd minute, only to see Hackett level in the 59th. Millwall 20th, Doncaster Rovers 18th.

Finally, Leyton Orient (23rd) and Yeovil Town (5th) saw out a 0-0 at Brisbane Road.
