With Tranmere Rovers being held 0-0 by Walsall at Prenton Park, this was a chance for the chasing pack to close the gap. Tranmere Rovers 1st, Walsall 17th.

Sheffield United failed to go level on points after they were held 3-3 by Crewe Alexandra at Bramhall Lane, they even had to come from behind to do that! It was looking good for the Blades as Miller (4th min) and Maguire (30th min) put the home side 2-up, but were rocked when Ellis (42nd min), Pogba (45th min) and Aneke (47th min) turned the game on its' head. The scoring was concluded when Blackman levelled in the 51st minute. Sheffield United 2nd, Crewe Alexandra 14th.

Franchise FC also failed to close the gap as they were held 2-2 by Shrewsbury Town at the New Meadow. Balanta gave the Franchise holders the lead on the stroke of half time only to see Rodgers level in the 65th minute and Wright put the Shrews ahead 7 minute later. Bowditch salvaged a point in the 92nd minute for the visitors. Shrewsbuty Town 20th, Franchise FC 3rd.

After their recent blip, Doncaster Rovers were one side that did manage to close the gap at the top with a 3-1 win over Carlisle United, who seem to be in free fall at the moment. Jones and Cotterill fired Donny in to a 2-goal lead with strikes in the 14th and 18th minutes. Symington pulled one back for the home side in the 66th minute, but it wasn't enough as Spurr restored the 2-goal advantage 10 minutes later. Carlisle United 19th, Doncaster Rovers 4th.

Play-off chasing AFC Bournemouth and Stevenage Borough cancelled each other out at Dean Court with a 1-1 draw. Tansey had given Borough the lead in the 26th minute, but that was cancelled out by Tubbs in the 74th. AFC Bournemouth 11st, Stevenage Borough 5th.

Out of the top-6, Swindon Town lost ground on the leaders as they dipped out, at home, to Brentford who sneaked off with the points following a 59th minute strike from Donaldson. Swindon Town 6th, Brentford 7th.

Two other play-off contenders managed to cancel themselves out at Deepdale as Preston North End and Notts County managed to see out a 0-0 draw. The visitors did win the yellow card count 3-1 and the red card count 1-0 as Campbell-Ryce was sent off in the 94th minute. Preston North End 10th, Notts County 8th.

Crawley Town lost ground and a place in the play-off places as Yeovil Town sneaked a single goal win at Broadfield as a 90th minute Hunt own goal was enough to seal victory for the Somerset side. Crawley Town 9th, Yeovil Town 12th.

Portsmouth must be wondering what's next for their beleagured fans as the financially stricken side lost their 7th league and cup match on the spin against Leyton Orient at Fratton Park. Lisbie (32nd min) and Odubajo (51st min) gave the Londoners a 2-goal cushion. McLeod pulled one back from the penalty spot in the 57th minute only for Lisbie to restore that 2-goal cushion 5 minutes later. Allan netted for Pompey in the 65th minute, but it wasn't enough to claim a point. Portsmouth 21st, Leyton Orient 13th.

Coventry City rounded off a good few days with another decent away win, this time coming at the Community Stadium of Colchester United. Quick fire goals from Moussa (34th min) and Edjenguele (37th min) only brought a response from Eastman in the 71st minute. McGoldrick made the game safe in the 87th minute for the Sky Blues. Colchester United 16th, Coventry City 15th.

Oldham Athletic managed to arrest their recent slump with a 2-1 win over Hartlepool United at Victoria Road. Baxter gave the Latics the lead in the 17th minute, with Sweeney giving the side rooted to the bottom of the table hope with a leveller in the 65th minute. Austin didn't help the home sides cause by seeing red in the 76th minute. Numerical advantage was made to count when Baxter made it 2-1 in the 92nd minute. Hartlepool United 24th, Oldham Athletic 18th.

Bury are within side of the dotted line and escape from the bottom-4 with a morale boosting 2-1 win over fellow struggler Scunthorpe United at Glanford Park. Schumacher gave the visitors the lead in the 12th minute, with Clarke levelling for Scunny 7 minutes after the re-start. Hewitt scored what proved to be the winner 2 minutes later. Scunthorpe United 23rd, Bury 22nd.
