League One Review - Nov 26th

With the league leaders not in action until Monday evening, it was a chance for the chasing pack to make up some ground. Leading the way in that endeavour was Sheffield Wednesday who managed to edge Leyton Orient out at Hillsborough with a single goal win, which came from Johnson in the 19th minute. Sheffield Wednesday 2nd, Leyton Orient 18th.

Franchise FC kept pace with a 4-3 win over Wycombe Wanderers at Stadium:Franchise. The first half was kept to a single Bowditch goal in the 14th minute, but the 2nd period exploded with 6-goals. Beavon and Trotta turned it round for the Chairboys with strikes in the 51st and 52nd minutes, with the hosts hitting back when Bowditch struck again in the 55th minute. Ibehre (66th min) and Doumbe (71st min) swung the game back in favour of the home side before Beavon set up an interesting, but nervy period of stoppage time with a 90th minute strike, but it wasn't to be enough to salvage a point. Franchise FC 4th, Wycombe Wanderers 23rd.

Sheffield United had to make do with a single goal winning margin with theirs coming against Chesterfield at the b2Net Stadium. Evans scored the only goal of the game in the 82nd minute. Chesterfield 24th, Sheffield United 5th.

Notts County kept pace with the play-offs with a 3-2 win over Scunthorpe United at Meadow Lane. Pearce gave the Magpies the lead in the 39th minute, with Barcham levelling on the stroke of half time. Grant gave Scunny hope of a rare away win in the 53rd minute only to see J Hughes (65th min) and Kelly (82nd min) ensure that the points remained in the East Midlands. Notts County 6th, Scunthorpe United 19th.

Brentford are tucked in just behind the play-off places following a 2-1 win over Rochdale at Spotland. An Alexander penalty in the 11th minute sent the Bees on the road to 3-points, with Holness levelling for Dale in the 65th minute, only to see Saunders claim the points in the 78th minute. Rochdale 20th, Brentford 7th.

Carlisle United were another to win by a single goal as Thirlwell scored the winner against Colchester United at Brunton Park. Carlisle United 8th, Colchester United 14th.

Bury managed to claim local bragging rights from neighbours Preston North End at Gigg Lane as Amoo (15th min) heaped more misery on PNE's season. Bury 10th, Preston North End 16th.

Hartlepool United returned to loosing ways, this time at home against struggling Yeovil Town at their Victoria Ground. Ngala scored the only goal of the game in the 25th minute to seal a vital 3-points for the Glovers. Hartlepool United 11th, Yeovil Town 22nd.

Have Exeter City turned the corner after a dismal start to the season, given a 3-0 win Tranmere Rovers at St James's Park? Goals from Bennett (41st min), Coles (66th min) and Logan (78th min) gave the Grecians some breathing space at the wrong end of the table. Exeter City 17th, Tranmere Rovers 12th.

Of the other 2 games played in League One, Stevenage Borough (9th) and Walsall (21st) as well as AFC Bournemouth (15th) and Oldham Athletic (13th) both finished in 0-0 draws.

Yet to play are Charlton Athletic (1st) and Huddersfield Town (3rd) who play each other on Monday evening - a match televised on Sky Sports.
