Jackson restored the advantage 4 minutes later. Just as it looked as if the home side were going to sneak in to the 3rd round, Drury popped up for a 2nd time (83rd min) to take the tie to replay on December 7th.

Sheffield Wednesday managed to sneak past League Two side Northampton Town at Hillsborough, but it was close in the end. Beevers (6th min) and Miller (37th min pen) established what appeared to be a comfortable 2-goal lead going in at the break. McKay pulled one back for the Cobblers in the 56th minute. Miller restored the Owls' 2-goal advantage in the 92nd minute, with Thornton setting up an interesting final few moments with a 94th minute consolation.

First half strikes came from Rhodes (19th min), Pilkington (35th min) and Afobe just before the break. In the second period McCombe (49th min), Kay (53rd min) and Roberts (73rd min) put the result beyond doubt.

Colchester United made heavy work to book their place in the next round as they could only manage a 1-0 win over Swindon Supermarine of the Southern Premier League. Mooney scored the only goal of the game in the 21st minute.

South Coast Club brushed aside Cheltenham Town, 3-0, at St Mary's, with goals coming from Lallana (8th min), Guly (50th min) and Gobern (87th min).

Marshall had given the non-Leaguers the lead in the 30th minute, with Madine levelling 5 minutes after the restart. Thomas restored the non-Leaguers advantage in the 75th minute, but the hearts of the non-League side were broken when Zoko (86th min) and Chester (90th min) saw the Cumbrians safely through.

For all their recent wobbles, Peterborough United managed to edge past Bury at Gigg Lane with a 2-1 win. Tomlin (13th min) and Mackail-Smith (38th min) gave the Posh a 2-goal lead going in at the break. Lowe pulled one back for the League Two outfit 6 minutes after the restart, but the equaliser wasn't to be for the home side.

Swindon Town live to fight again having been held by Conference side Crawley Town following a 1-1 draw. Austin gave the League Two strugglers the lead in the 66th minute, with Tubbs levelling 10 minutes later to force a replay on December 7th.

Walsall were felled at the second hurdle, being knocked out by League Two Torquay United at Plainmoor. A Kee penalty in the 41st minute was enough to send the Devon side through.

Leyton Orient travel to Droylesden on Monday evening, while the games involving Notts County and AFC Bournemouth, and Hartlepool United and Yeovil Town were both casualties of the weather.
