League One Review - November 13th

The game of the day in League One came at Roots Hall where Southend United entertained Swansea City in front of 11049! Trundle fired the Welshmen in front in the 39th minute, followed immediately after the break with Akinfenwa doubling the lead. Eastwood pulled back what proved to be a consolation in the 80th minute. Southend United 3rd, Swansea City 1st.

Yeovil Town slipped at home against Huddersfield Town. Booth put the Yorkshire side ahead on 10 minutes, with Hudson extending the lead 7 minutes before the break. Johnson pulled a goal back a minute after the restart, but Yeovil couldn't find an equaliser. Yeovil Town 15th, Huddersfield Town 2nd.

Following the pattern of away wins, Brentford came away with the points from Hartlepool United. Campbell put the Bees ahead in the 21st minute. Sweeney levelled for the home side in the 71st minute, before Owusu secured the win in the 77th minute. Hartlepool United 14th, Brentford 4th.

A brace from Allison secured the points for Chesterfield against Port Vale at Saltergate. He netted his goals in the 30th and 66th minutes. Chesterfield 5th, Port Vale 12th.

Blackpool
and Scunthorpe United fought out a 7-goal thriller at Bloomfield Road on Sunday in front of the Sky Sports cameras! Scunthorpe went ahead through Sharp in the 2nd minute. Murphy levelled with his first goal of the afternoon in the 18th minute. Sharp then got his, and Scunthorpe's, second with a 34th minute penalty. Blackpool still had time before the break for Morris (41) and Wright (45) to claim a 3-2 half time lead. The score remained at 3-2 until the final few minutes when Murphy got his second in the 83rd minute, with the final strike coming from Morris in the 90th to round off a fine 5-2 win. Blackpool 18th, Scunthorpe United 7th.

AFC Bournemouth and Nottingham Forest experienced a classic game of two halves at Dean Court. In the first period, Forest dominated, and took the lead through Southall in the 18th minute. But in the second Bournemouth dominated when Stock levelled in the 63rd minute. AFC Bournemouth 10th, Nottingham Forest 9th.

Rotherham United are now looking over their shoulders at a possible back-to-back relegation campaigns as they slipped further in to trouble. This time they went down to a 2-1 home reverse against Colchester United. This didn't stop them going ahead in the 22nd minute through a Burton penalty. Barker levelled for Colchester United as he put past his own keeper. The win was wrapped up in the 84th minute when Iwelumo secured the points. Rotherham United 19th, Colchester United 11th.

Walsall secured a 2-0 home win over Gillingham, another of last seasons relegated sides. The goals came from Demontagnac in the 14th minute and Skora in the 56th minute. Walsall 13th, Gillingham 22nd.

Doncaster Rovers secured their 3rd away win with a 1-0 win over Oldham Athletic at Boundary Park. The only goal of the game through McIndoe with a 77th minute penalty. Oldham Athletic 17th, Doncaster Rovers 16th.

Franchise FC climbed out of the bottom-4 with an away win at Prenton Park as they go above Tranmere Rovers. The 2-1 win came even though they fell behind against Jackson in the 77th minute. McLeod then secured a brace in the 56th (a penalty) and 57th minutes. Tranmere Rovers 21st, Franchise FC 22nd.

The Friday night game on Sky Sports between Swindon Town and Bristol City genearted a third home win for Swindon Town. Murray put City ahead from the penalty spot in the 3rd minute, but McDermott levelled in the 11th, and the eventual winner coming from Fallon in the 30th. Swindon Town 24th, Bristol City 23rd.
