Charlton Athletic lost their undefeated start to the season with a surprising defeat on the road against Stevenage Borough at Broadhall Lane. A solitary Long goal in the 11th minute was enough to seal the points for the home side. Stevenage Borough 14th, Charlton Athetic 1st.

Huddersfield Town took full advantage of the slip with a thumping 4-0 win over rock-bottom Exeter City at St James's Park. Goals from Lee (8th min) and Rhodes (26th, 65th and 89th mins) brushed the Grecians aside. Exeter City 24th, Huddersfield Town 2nd.

Notts County managed to sneak in to 3rd place with a 3-1 away win over Chesterfield who have slipped in form in recent weeks. Burgess (21st min) and Judge (38th min) gave the Magpies the lead going in at the break with Westcarr pulling one back in the 52nd minute. Any hopes of a point were snuffed out when Talbot put past his own keeper with just 2 minutes left on the watch. Chesterfield 22nd, Notts County 3rd.

Franchise FC had to come back to settle for a share of the points against AFC Bournemouth at Stadium:Franchise, despite taking the lead through Balanta in the 42nd minute. A Thomas brace in the 61st and 73rd minutes gave the Cherries hope of a 4th win before Morrison levelled 10 minutes from time. Franchise FC 5th, AFC Bournemouth 20th.

Preston North End were on the end of a slim 1-0 defeat at the hands of Walsall at Bescot. Nicholls scored the only goal of the game for the Saddlers in the 10th minute. Walsall 15th, Preston North End 6th.

Carlisle United swept Yeovil Town aside at Huish Park as the Cumbrians made light work of their Somerset hosts with a comfortable 3-0 away win. Noble (55th min), McGovern (65th min) and Livesey (84th min) made sure that the points were heading back up the M5/M6. Yeovil Town 23rd, Carlisle United 8th.

For their good start to the season, Hartlepool United appear to be going backwards at the moment following a 3-1 home defeat against Wycombe Wanderers. Goals from Donnelly (15th min), Beavon (36th min) and an oen goal from Collins (82nd min) only drew a response from Boyd (89th min). Hartlepool United 10th, Wycombe Wanderers 19th.

Tranmere Rovers had to settle for a single goal win over Oldham Athletic at Prenton Park with Baxter scoring the only goal of the game in the 18th minute. Tranmere Rovers 11th, Oldham Athletic 13th.

Rochdale and Colchester United eventually had to settle for a share of the points at Spotland after Henderson (3rd min) and Odejayi (14th min) gave the Essex side a 2-goal cushion. That lead didn't last as Holness (43rd min) and Jones (88th min) made sure that the points were shared. Rochdale 18th, Colchester United 12th.

Leyton Orient are on a real roll at the moment, recording their third straight win, their latest success coming against Bury at Brisbane Road. Cox scored the only goal of the game on the stroke of half time. Leyton Orient 21st, Bury 16th.

Brentford (7th) and Scunthorpe United (17th) had to settle for a 0-0 draw at Griffin Park.

The game of the weekend comes at Bramhall Lane as Sheffield United (9th) host near neighbours Sheffield Wesdnesday (4th) on Sunday.
