Southend United, as the crow flies, made the short hop over the Thames Estuary to Gillingham, coming away with a 2-1 away win, their 4th of the season. After a goal-less first 45 minutes, Southend United took a 2-0 lead through a brace from Bentley in the 55th and 69th minutes before Pouton pulled one back with 5 minutes to spare. Having slipped in recent weeks, Brentford got back to winning ways with a 2-1 win over Rotherham United at Griffin Park. Burton put the visitors ahead in the 7th minute, with O'Connor levelling from the penalty spot 2 minutes later. The win was wrapped up in the first half when Rankin fired home in the 36th minute. Vale hit back in the second period with strikes from Mulligan (54) and Cornes (71) to snatch the points back. Port Vale 5th, Walsall 12th.

Chesterfield continue to impress away from home, this time claiming a 2-1 away win (their 4th of the season) against Colchester United at Layer Road. Larkin (24) and Hall (48) effectively sealed the win with their strikes, with Iwelumo getting a mere consolation in the 90th minute. Colchester United 16th, Chesterfield 6th.

Doncaster Rovers continue to improve, as they drew 2-2 with Bradford City at Belle Vue. Barnsley claimed the biggest win of the afternoon in League One, with an emphatic 4-0 win over Oldham Athletic at Oakwell. Scunthorpe United, having started so well, have slipped in recent weeks, this time going down in a 7-goal thriller at home to Yeovil Town, who continue to improve. Keogh and Sharp put Scunny ahead with strikes in the 12th and 19th minutes, before Yeovil bounced back to level through Way and Jevons (25 and 36 respectively). Harrold then gave the visitors a two goal cushion with strikes in the 58th and 65th minutes, before Sharp netted his second for the afternoon - but it was not enough to salvage a point for the home side. Hartlepool United made the long journey to the South West, and Bristol City, walking away with a 1-0 win through a Proctor strike in the 53rd minute. Bristol City 21st, Hartlepool United 18th.

In an early season relegation 6-pointer, the Franchise holders ran out 3-1 winners over managerless Swindon Town at the National Hockey Stadium. Despite the fact that Fallon gave Swindon the lead in the 6th minute, Franchise FC battled back with goals from Kamara (48), Edds (76) and McLeod (80) to secore their 2nd home win of the season, leaving Swindon 5 points adrift at the bottom already!
