League One Review - Sept 12th

Unexpectedly, Nottingham Forest lost their undefeated start to the season at the City Ground. They fell to Oldham Athletic in a 2-0 defeat. A Porter brace in the 28th and 45th minutes were enough to claim the unlikely victory for the Lancashire side. Nottingham Forest 1st, Oldham Athletic 15th.

Tranmere Rovers didn't do much better in their game! They fell to bottom club Rotherham United 2-1 at Millmoor. The result finally gives Rotherham a zero points tally! Williamson gave the home side the lead in the 17th minute, with Ellison levelling 10 minutes later. Hoskins claimed the points for the home side a further minutes after that! Rotherham United 24th, Tranmere Rovers 2nd.

Port Vale slipped too, this time on their travels to Scunthorpe United, where the home side claimed a 3-0 win. A Sharp brace before half time (9 and 45 minutes) gave the home side a comfy half time lead, Morris made sure of the points with a third strike in the 64th minute. Scunthorpe United 17th, Port Vale 3rd.

Of the chasing pack, Swansea City managed to close the gap on the loosing top-3 with a 2-0 away win against Brentford at Griffin Park, which ended their undefeated start to the season. Knight netted his brace to secure the win in the 36th and 54th minutes. Brentford 6th, Swansea City 4th.

Carlisle United had to make do with a point of their travels to Valley Parade, being held to a 1-1 by Bradford City. Windass put the home side in the 20th minute, with Lumsdon scoring the equaliser in the 49th. Bradford City 10th, Carlisle United 5th.

Despite their off-the-pitch troubles, Bristol City won at home against Leyton Orient, who have slipped after a good start to life in League One. Jevons (18 mins) and Showunmi (45 mins) gave City a good start to the game. They tried to throw it away when Lockwood converted a 65th minute penalty, but it wasn't enough to claim an equaliser! Bristol City 7th, Leyton Orient 21st.

AFC Bournemouth had to come from behind, and with 10-men, to claim a point against Brighton & Hove Albion at Withdean. Foley gave the Cherries the lead on 35 minutes, but poor defending after the break allowed Hammond (on 52 mins) and Revell (on 59 mins) to put the home side in front. Howe levelled for the visitors in the 73rd minute! Brighton & Hove Albion 13th, AFC Bournemouth 8th.

Cheltenham Town's bubble might just have burst, they slipped up against on their travels against Crewe Alexandra at Gresty Road. Maynard gave the home side the lead in the 22nd minute, with Wilson levelling on 38. Cox restored the lead in the 69th minute, and the points secured in the 80th! Crewe Alexandra 11th, Cheltenham Town 9th.

Chesterfield secured a point away to Blackpool at Bloomfield Road. Gillett put the home side ahead in the 32nd minute, with Hurst levelling for the visitors in the 59th. Blackpool 22nd, Chesterfield 12th.

Yeovil Town needed to battle back against Northampton Town for a 1-1 draw at Sixfields. Crowe put the home side ahead in the 31st minute, with Stewart levelling in the 67th for a share of the points. Northampton Town 20th, Ywovil Town 14th.

Gillingham clocked up their 3rd win of the season over Millwall at Priestfield. Easton put the home side ahead in the 13th minute. That was added to by Jarvis in the 63rd minute. Hubertz netted the SE Londoners consolation with 3 minutes to spare. Gillingham 16th, Milwall 23rd.

Finally, Huddersfield Town and Doncaster Rovers, under new boss O'Driscoll, managed a 0-0 between them at the Galpharm Stadium. Huddersfield Town 18th, Doncaster Rovers 19th.
