Nottingham Forest maintain their top spot, but they dropped 2-points away to Port Vale to do so! Husbands put the home side at head at Vale Park, only to see Breckin equalise in the 33rd minute. Port Vale 10th, Nottingham Forest 1st.

Tranmere Rovers couldn't take advantage as they were held by Huddersfield Town at Prenton Park. Zola had given the home side the lead in the 11th minute, which was followed by Greenacre in the 37th minute. Town hit back after the break through Booth in the 55th minute and Taylor-Fletcher in the 78th minute to claim a point. Tranmere Rovers 2nd, Huddersfield Town 18th.

Bristol City did take advantage with a single goal victory over AFC Bournemouth at Dean Court. The only goal came in the 70th minute through Jevons. AFC Bournemouth 15th, Bristol City 3rd.

Carlisle United also closed the gap on the leading pack as they recorded a 2-0 win over struggling Blackpool at Brunton Park. Lumsdon (18th minute) gave the home side a half time lead, which was made secure by Hawley in the 88th minute. Carlisle United 4th, Blackpool 21st.

Yeovil Town are another club applying pressure on the leading clubs. They recorded a 2-0 win over Brighton & Hove Albion at Huish Park. Stewart put the home side ahead in the 7th minute. The win was secured in the 82nd minute through a Gray strike. Yeovil Town 5th, Brighton & Hove Albion 16th.

Doncaster Rovers recorded another draw - this time a 3-3 against Bradford City at Belle Vue. A Windass brace in the 1st and 23rd minutes, followed by Green brace (43rd and 51st mins) made it 2-2 just after the break. Coppinger gave Rovers the lead in the 53rd minute, but it was not enough for the win as Bridge-Wilkinson levelled in the 83rd minute. Doncaster Rovers 19th, Bradford City 6th.

Oldham Athletic maintained their recent good form with a 2-1 win over Rotherham United at Boundary Park. Stam gave the home side the lead in the 51st minute, but that was cancelled out by Hoskins in the 68th. The win was secured with a Warne strike in the 76th minute. Cheltenham Town are finding life at the higher level more of a struggle. They slipped to a 0-2 home defeat at the hands of Northampton Town at Whaddon Road. Kirk broke the deadlock in the 67th minute. McGleish secured the points with a penalty in the 83rd minute. Cheltenham Town 20th, Northampton Town 12th.

Leyton Orient left it late to claim a point in a grandstand finish against Gillingham at Brisbane Road. The Gills had already claimed a 0-2 half time lead with goals from Bentley in the 43rd and Ndumbu-Nsungu in the 45th minutes. Jarvis made it 3 for the visitors in the 57th! Game over surely? No! A Lockwood penalty gave hope to the home side who grabbed it as Lockwood secured his hat trick with strikes in the 85th and 88th minutes to grab a late, and unlikely point. Leyton Orient 22nd, Gillingham 17th.
