Brentford continue to lead the way in League One as they overcome Nottingham Forest at the City Ground. Frampton gave the Bees a half time lead before Thompson equalised 3 minutes after the break. Pratley made sure of the points with 12 minutes to go. Nottingham Forest 17th, Brentford 1st.

Scunthorpe United had (temporarily) taken top spot with a Friday night an emphatic 4-1 win over much fancied Huddersfield Town. The remarkable result was set up with a Beagrie penalty after just 8 minutes. A 2-0 half time lead was assured when Keogh netted on the stroke of half time. Abbott pulled one back for the home side before Sparrow (on 74) and Keogh (on 83) secured the win. Huddersfield Town 4th, Scunthorpe United 2nd.

Port Vale took advantage of Huddersfield's slip to take third spot with a 2-0 win over Rotherham United at Vale Park. Lowndes scored on the stroke of half time, just as Paynter netted on the stroke of full time to secure the win. Port Vale 3rd, Rotherham United 9th.

Walsall secured a 1-0 home win over Swindon Town thanks to a Fryatt goal on 57 minutes at Bescot. Walsall 6th, Swindon Town 16th.

Tranmere Rovers were thanking their lucky stars that AFC Bournemouth had left their shooting boots at home in a 0-0 draw at Dean Court, despite the fact that the Cherries had plenty of shots, most were off target, or straight at the keeper. AFC Bournemouth 11th, Tranmere Rovers 7th.

Southend United continued their impressive start to the new season with a 2-1 home win over Oldham Athletic, who have slipped in recent weeks. Lawson (11) and Goater (45) gave the Shrimpers a 2-0 lead at the break, leaving Bonner to score a consolation for the Latics in the 69th minute. Southend United 8th, Oldham Athletic 12th.

Bradford City claimed their 2nd home win of the campaign with a 2-0 victory over Chesterfield. Veteran Windass and Bridge-Wilkinson secured the points in the final 15 minutes of the game. Bradford City 10th, Chesterfield 21st.

Blackpool compounded Doncaster Rovers poor start to the new season with a 1-0 away win at Belle Vue. Donnelly scored the only goal of the game in the 67th minute. Doncaster Rovers 23rd, Blackpool 14th.

Bristol City and Colchester United fought out a 0-0 draw at Ashton Gate even though Colchester United were reduced to 10-men on 59 minutes. Bristol City 18th, Colchester United 20th.

Yeovil Town finally claimed their first League win of the campaign at their 7th attempt - Hartlepool United being the first side to give them all three points at this level. Bastianini scored the only goal of the game in the 68th minute to give the Glovers all three points. Hartlepool United 19th, Yeovil Town 24th.

This left Swansea City (5th), Gillingham (13th), Barnsley (15th) and the Franchise holders (22nd) without a game due to international call-ups.
