Hartlepool United have cancelled the contract of Ryan McCann by mutual consent. McCann is quoted as saying that "I have loved my time at this club but it wasn't meant to be. The lads have been brilliant here but I need to be playing regular football and hopefully I can do that at St Johnstone".

The Football League have announced an extension to the sponsorship deal with LDV for the LDV Vans Trophy. The current deal has been extended by another three seasons until the end of the 2006/07 season.

As the current transfer window closed, Crystal Palace swooped to catch Wayne Andrews from Colchester United, while Gareth Williams went in the opposite direction to Layer Road.
