Macclesfield Reaction - Silk Men

The Macclesfield manager, Keith Alexander, is quoted on their Clubs Official Web Site as saying about the game, and the sending off: "Quite frankly it was a ludicrous decision. I think we must have run over several black cats or walked under too many ladders the way are luck is going with certain decisions. Gareth's always gives 100% and he's certainly not afraid to get stuck in. But the one thing he's not is a dirty player. So to be accused of elbowing their player is hard to take. I don't think anyone in the ground other than the referee saw anything malicious in the challenge. So I was gob smacked when he issued a straight red card. Clearly I will need to have a look at the video again and speak to people at the club on Monday but at this stage it is my intention that we'll lodge an appeal as we'll be missing Gareth for three games if the card is allowed to stand. The sad thing is that Gareth is really down at the moment when he should be celebrating scoring the winning goal. Hopefully we'll get the decision overturned and he'll be able to play next week at Port Vale. Its taken the gloss off the afternoon but its important we don't forget that we've won away for the first time having played most of the game a man down. I thought the lads were magnificent and whilst Bournemouth inevitably enjoyed a lot of possession they weren't able to break us down. We looked solid, used our heads and in the end I thought we thoroughly deserved the win. After last Saturday I decided to stick with the same team and they showed again that they're more than a match for most sides in this league on their day. The circumstances were obviously different but they didn't seem fazed".
