Max Almost Quit

Having returned to France to sort out a custody issue relating to his younger brother and sister following the death of their mother in October, Max almost quit football to look after his siblings.

Speaking to the Bournemouth Evening Echo Max says: "I have thought very seriously about giving up football to look after my brother and sister. I went to see my mum when she was ill and then came back here to play. She died without me being with her. I felt bad because I didn't look after her properly and I felt bad because I didn't give enough time to my family. I've been through a very difficult time. I've got my brother and sister to look after and it's been tough. They are both okay and hopefully things will be better next week. I caught the Eurostar at about five o'clock on Friday morning to come here. I saw the manager and told him I was ready to play. The reception from the supporters was very emotional. They make you feel better and give you more confidence. You want to give them 100 per cent in every game. I'm proud of the boys for giving it everything over the past few weeks and would like to thank the supporters for everything they have done for me since I've been here".
