With 6 goals in 12 appearances for the League One strugglers, David McGoldrick has been recalled to the Saints line up. His goals have coincided with an up turn in form and a real chance of beating the drop to League Two.

Speaking to the Bournemouth Evening Echo, Kevin Bond is quoted as saying: "I'm hugely disappointed to see him go, but eternally grateful to Southampton for letting us have him in the first place. He helped us win games which otherwise we might not have won and his contribution to the team was invaluable. There was a time when we were in trouble and it looked as though we might not get out of it. I know we should be home and dry already but fate has decided to make it difficult for us. But we're in a position where we're among the favourites to avoid the drop and David certainly played his part in getting us there".
