Middlesbrough Reaction - Cherries

Manager Eddie Howe was quoted on the Clubs Official Web Site as saying after the match: "We tried to entertain. I’m disappointed, we had a good crowd today and that disappoints me that we didn’t give them more goalmouth action but it wasn’t to be. I don’t think it wasn’t for the want of trying from our perspective - it’s unusual for us to get 0-0s. I thought we were trying to win the game - it was difficult. Middlesbrough’s defensive record has been good of late and you can see why. They were very rigid, defended quite deep, got a lot of men behind the ball and it was difficult for us to break them down. We did everything to try and do that but in the end it just didn’t happen for us. You have to remember how honest your players are and how hard they’ve worked, and what they’ve done in recent weeks. There’s no negativity in my mind at all. It’s another clean sheet, that’s an excellent achievement. And not only the clean sheet, but I don’t think they’ve had a chance really bar Tomlin’s one that he’s hit over. I can’t remember them having another good opportunity".
