Speaking on BBC Radio Solent after the match, manager Kevin Bond was quoted as saying: "I'm delighted with the three points, they are the most important thing. In fairness I thought we played really well today. We come under a bit of pressure after going in front in the first half, we sat back. But second half we tried to put them under a bit of pressure and should have won by more. Darren is absolute quality, rarely gives the ball away, always sees the right pass, he has done really well for us and just made the difference. We needed to show character to beat them. They are a good side, got some good players and the front two are very dangerous. They have got a lot of experience and I knew that it was going to be a very difficult game. So we needed to do all of those things well if we are going to win. And thankfully today, after a couple of disappointing results where we have not defended as well as we would like to have done, we were back to what we have been before those games today. He (McGoldrick) had two or three terrific chances, a one-on-one with the keeper and just wriggled round the edge of the box, makes himself a yard, but it just didn't happen for him today. But he was a constant threat, I think they had problems with him all afternoon and he did great for us and has done great for us. We always have believed and do believe that we will stay in the league and have got enough to stay in the league. We have had back-to-back wins on a number of occasions, which does suggest that we are on our way. What we have got to is guard against back-to-back defeats after it so we have got to hang on in there, build on today and got to be more resolute when we come under a bit of pressure and if we do we will be okay".
