Mitchell In Bullish Mood

With the Club flexing new financial muscles in recent months, other clubs are pointing fingers at the Cherries given the spending power at their disposal.

Speaking in the Bournemouth Evening Echo, Mitchell is quoted as saying: "We are working within the rules and have to prove that to the Football League, the same as every other club. If people want to keep questioning us, that is up to them but I don’t think it is any of their business. Spending wisely is what we need to do and we will continue to do that. We have got to progress and are thankful we have got the opportunity to do that. I think some people may be a bit jealous. I am happy with our set up and we will continue to push. During my first two years at the club, we didn’t have anything to spend and it was hard work just to survive. We were fortunate that shone through and somebody realised the work that had gone in and asked to join in and help. I have never moaned about other clubs spending money. All I have said is that I wish we could get the same level of support of some of the other clubs in our division. If we could get attendances like some of them, it would help increase our turnover. We will keep trying but it is a slow process".

All this coming after Clubs like Franchise FC and Preston North End have been moaning about the amount the Cherries have spent in recent times, plus rumours that AFCB are playing an astronomical £14k per week for the services of Lee Barnard! A figure Mitchell denies is true.
