As widely expected Jeff Mostyn and Steve Sly have stepped down as Chairman and Vice Chairman at Dean Court.
Speaking in the Bournemouth Evening Echo, Mostyn is quoted as saying: "During the past few weeks, I have given a great deal of thought to my position as chairman of AFC Bournemouth. It was always my desire to carry on as chairman in order to assist Paul Baker and the club through the transition period, and then to continue until such time that the new regime had a full understanding of the club's affairs and were in a position to take the club forward. I now believe the time is right for me to step down as chairman and allow Paul the freedom to develop the club in his own style, while also encouraging new investment. For those of you who know me personally, you will know the decision has not come easily. I am passionate about the football club as I believe I have demonstrated throughout the two years that I have been involved, both as an investor and as chairman. However, I have said on many occasions, the most important ingredient is the survival and success of the football club, not the individuals involved. While many doubted if I would step aside, I hope that this difficult decision has demonstrated that I have always had the best interests of the club at heart. For the very first time in over two decades, the club is near debt-free with every opportunity to succeed both on and off the pitch. That in itself is something for all supporters of the club to cherish. Above everything else, I would like to thank all of the club's amazing supporters. I want to thank you all for the support you have given me personally during the last two years. I know I haven't been everything to everyone - indeed, as a football club chairman you somehow expect abuse and criticism as it goes with the territory. But even those supporters that have given me a hard time are entitled to an opinion that I have to respect. I believe I can look back with pride knowing my efforts have resulted in new investment, a brand new start and a near debt-free club. That is a legacy that I am proud to have left the amazing supporters of the club".
