New Contracts Awarded At Dean Court

Signing new contracts to remain at Dean Court are Steve Cook and Simon Francis, who both signed new 3-year deals.

On the new deal and the future, Cook is quoted in the Bournemouth Evening Echo as saying: "As a young defender, you can only learn from players like them. I was fortunate to play alongside Tommy last season because he helped me a lot. You can’t help but improve when you are surrounded by good players. “It is going to be a long, hard season in the Championship and some people are going to be disappointed when the manager names the team for the first game. But it is not about individuals, it is about the team and the squad. We want to come together, like we did last season. It would be stupid for me to think I might play every game because there are going to be injuries and dips in form. There will be friendly rivalry and fierce competition for places and I am sure we will all get the best out of one another".

On his new deal, Francis is quoted as saying: "We’ve been having talks for a while now but it can be hard to get things sorted when you’re away from the ground and people go on holiday. It is never an overnight thing and a lot of stuff goes back and forth, but the club always knew I wanted to be a part of things moving forward and it was all pretty easy in the end. Of course, getting your future sorted is something you look for. It was always in the back of my mind with a year left, as long as we were doing well, to ask to stay".
