Oldham Athletic - Reaction

Bournemouth manager has hailed defender Josh Gowling for the recent up turn in form as the Cherries bid to avoid the drop. Speaking in the Bournemouth Evening Echo, he is quoted as saying: "He has turned himself around brilliantly. A couple of months ago, he was not the dependable defender you need in our situation. But recently he has been error-free, reliable - and I thought he was excellent again. He's knuckled down and he's doing what he needs to do as a defender, but he's added concentration to his game and that's really helped. I have got real belief in him. A couple of months ago, I wasn't sure I could trust him as a defender. But now he's earned my full trust - and he knows that. He is no longer taking chances at the back and is playing with his head. I've been encouraged by how he's improved - and that is all credit to him".

Meanwhile, Oldham Athletic's boss, John Sheridan, was quoted on BBCi as saying: "You can't afford to give teams a two-goal start like we did against Bournemouth. The goals we are conceding at the moment are a bit of a joke. But I don't like losing - I hate it, and I hope the players hate it as well". And went on to say: "For some reason, since we went top of the league, we should be full of confidence - but we aren't," Sheridan added after his side slipped to fifth in the table - their lowest placing since early December. We should be looking down on everyone else and thinking we're going to win every game, but we haven't done that".
