Oldham Athletic Reaction - Latics

With the resounding defeat still rining in their ears, manager Paul Dickov knows that the Latics need to do better after their 4-1 defeat at the hands of AFC Bournemouth.

Dickov was quoted after the match as saying: "It was disappointing and embarrassing, especially the second-half, and I won’t be forgetting it for a long time. To concede the goals in the manner we did is more than disappointing. I am embarrassed for the fans who travelled a long way. They didn’t deserve that. We might have good footballers but, if they are mentally weak, they are not going to have a chance.  After the first goal went in we just crumbled. I have told the players if they cannot concentrate for 90 minutes they might as well not be here. I keep banging on about what good players we have here, but I seriously question their mentality. A lot of my players tell me they want to play in the Championship, but they showed me why they are not there. One thing I do is back my team. Sometimes I’ve been made a fool of, but I’ll always back them. I can’t back them after that second half. It’s a young team, but when you’ve got young players like that in the team you look for your senior players and we just didn’t have that. They have to respond. If they want to continue having careers with performances like that, it won’t happen".
