Oldham Reaction

Speaking to BBC Radio Solent after the match, manager Sean O'Driscoll was quoted as saying: "I'm disappointed. I thought we controlled it for large parts and I would like to see the penalty again on the video. We had drummed into the side in training before the game that if we gave silly free-kicks away in this game, the next ball will come into the box. They are potentially a big side and we were looking when the ball came forward, not to foul people. There were some decisions…you do not know what a foul is now, that is the problem so how can you tell your players? I was too far away from the penalty to see it. I think the referee's comment was that he [Browning] had chopped him down. That seems a bit harsh. We had a couple of chances. James Keene will be disappointed, with Chris Day on the deck that should have been the equalising goal but it wasn't to be. Two long trips up North and two one-nil defeats so we can't wait to get back down south! We are a passing team and showed today that we can move the ball as well as anybody but you have got to put your chances away otherwise you'll always susceptible to a possible mistake which will loose us games".

On the dodgy penalty, Marcus Browning was quoted after the match as saying: "Well I didn't think so, absolutely not. We both went up for a header, I got into a tangle with him and I fell on the floor. The next thing was that I looked round and the referee had given a penalty. I didn't know if I had done it or if Neil Young had come across and whipped him down. I had to ask Youngy and said 'who gave away the penalty?'. He said 'you did'. We knew they were going to come after us in the first twenty minutes so we changed our game plan. In the second half, the game opened up a bit and we were able to get our passing game going. We looked in control in the second half until the penalty".
