Oldham Athletic lead the way after 2 games of the new season as they ripped promoted Notts County apart at Boundary Park. Furman gave the Latics the lead in the 31st minute, which was followed with strikes from Tounkare in the 66th and Lee in the 87th minute, leaving County searching for their first points of the new season. Oldham Athletic 1st, Notts County 24th.

Charlton Athletic made it 2 wins from 2 games as they made the short trip to Brisbane Road to take on Leyton Orient on Friday evening. McCormack gave the Addicks the lead in the 28th minute only to see McGleish level 5 minutes after the restart. Even though Charlton were reduced to 10-men 2 minutes later they managed to edge the game after Wagstaff restored their lead in the 62nd minute, with the points sealed through Solly in the 94th minute. Leyton Orient 22nd, Charlton Athletic 2nd.

Huddersfield Town (3rd) were held to a 0-0 draw by Tranmere Rovers (19th) at the Galpharm Stadium.

Carlisle United made the long trip to the south west to face Plymouth Argyle at Home Park, coming away with a share of the spoils. Harte had given the Cumbrians the lead in the 68th minute. All was looking good for 3-points until Patterson popped up with an equaliser in the 94th minute. Plymouth Argyle 7th, Carlisle United 4th.

Sheffield Wednesday made the trip to face Colchester United hoping to maintain their 100% start to the season. Boyd gave the home side a 50th minute lead only to see Mellor snatch an eualiser with 7 minutes to go. Colchester United 14th, Sheffield Wednesday 5th.

Brighton & Hove Albion had to be content with a point at Withdean as they were held to a 2-2 draw by newly promoted Rochdale. Murray gave the Seagulls the lead in the 47th minute, with Jones levelling from the penalty spot in the 53rd minute. Bennett restored the home sides' advantage in the 67th minute and thought he  had begged the winner until Jones popped up in the 92nd minute to ensure that the points were shared. Brighton & Hove Albion 6th, Rochdale 16th.

AFC Bournemouth chalked up the biggest win in League One with a 5-1 thumping of Peterborough United at Dean Court. Pugh (11th min) and Robinson (20th min) gave the Cherries a 2-goal lead going in at the break before Pitman (50th, 57th and 65th mins) netted a second half hat trick. Langmead netted Posh's consolation in the 61st minute. AFC Bournemouth 8th, Peterborough United 12th.

Walsall managed to beat Brentford at Griffin Park. Nicholls gave the Saddlers the lead in the 12th minute only for Alexander to level just before the break. Gray scored what proved to be the winner 9 minutes after the restart. Brentford 23rd. Walsall 10th.

Bristol Rovers managed to put a bad week behind them with a 2-1 over near neighbours Yeovil Town at The Memorial Stadium. Kuffour gave the Pirates the lead on the stroke of half time but must have feared that it was only going to be a point as Virgo levelled in the 89th minute. Athony secured the points with a 94th minute winner. Bristol Rovers 13th, Yeovil Town 11th.

Swindon Town had to battle back against Hartlepool United at the Victoria Ground as the home side raced in to a 2-goal lead through Boyd (4th min) and Sweeney (12th min). Dossevi (72nd min) and Austin (74th min) managed to hit back to make the long trip north worth it after all. Hartlepool United 15th, Swindon Town 18th.

The games involving Franchise FC (9th)/Southampton (20th) and Dagenham & Redbridge (21st)/Exeter City (17th) were called off out of respect due to recent tragic bereavements.
