Partial Transfer Embargo Still In Place

Unless the embargo is lifted, and soon, the Cherries could be starting the new season with a squad of 20 players.

Chairman, Paul Baker, is quoted in the Bournemouth Evening Echo as saying on the current situation: "We've spoken to the Football League about it and are working with them to get the embargo lifted. Eddie knows he can have up to 20 players on the books, regardless of the embargo, and we're working with the Football League to get it lifted at the earliest opportunity".

For his part, Eddie Howe is quoted as saying: "Hopefully, and for everybody's sake, a speedy conclusion can be reached as soon as possible. As it stands at the moment, we are only allowed to carry a 20-strong squad for the new season because of the embargo. While the restrictions are in place, we are planning, more or less, with the 20 we have got and that wouldn't include any new players or loan players. Unless the numbers drop below 20, for whatever reason, we won't be able to add to the squad until the embargo is lifted. It would mean starting next season with two fewer players than we finished last season and keeping our fingers crossed for no long-term injuries".

The Cherries currently have 14 contracted players, with a further 6 out of contract, who are waiting to hear what the situation is ...... further complicated with the on going sale of the club.
