The ex-Bournemouth striker Steve Cotterill has stunned Stoke City by announcing that he quits from his job at the Britannia Stadium after a mere 5 months of a 3 year contract.

Cotterill quit football after a terrible knee injury he sustained at Dean Court, at the start of the Great Escape season, and took up his first managerial job at Wahaddon Road, where he guided Cheltenham Town, not only to the Football League, and then the Second Division before leaving for the 'bright lights' of the Potteries.

There is speculation that he is being touted for a job at Sunderland's Stadiu Of Light following the departure of Peter Reid earlier this week.
