Last updated : 06 November 2002 By Mike Robins
Following controversial departures from Gillingham, Bristol City and Portsmouth, ex Bournemouth manager and player, Tony Pulis was named as the surprise appointment for Stoke City. Pulis replaces another ex-Bournemouth player, Steve Cotterill who quit and moved to Sunderland.

Brian Stock was forced to withdraw from the Welsh U-21 squad as a result of his appendix operation. If his experience is any like mine 2 years ago, he could be out for a month.

Jason Tindall is said to be getting close to full training again. He is expected to do so after the Doncaster Rovers FA Cup match on November 16th.

While Tindall is injured loanee Liam Ridgewell is making a name for himself. This time scoring for England U-19 as the youngsters crushed Moldova 9-0.

And fellow temporary centre-back, Carl Fletcher, has been highly praised by manager Sean O'Driscoll who commends Carl's committment and work rate citing the centre half partnership with Karl Broadhurst success of their development through the youth scheme at Dean Court.

Currently no news on when Shaun Maher, or Gareth Stewart might be returning to first team action.
