The Blackpool defeat sees the Cherries uncomfortably close to the relegation area. Today’s Reserve fixture at Cambridge United sees some seven youth team players called up for the experience. 16 year old defender Darren Hutchings joins Ryan Woolfenden, Sam Bennett, Jon Rodriguez, Fawzi Saddi, Tim Bond and Callum Burt. The first team match against the same opposition has been arranged for March 19.

Efforts to secure Ipswich Town’s Darren Bent, or West Ham’s Richard Garcia on loan have been thwarted.

Sean O’Driscoll is pleased with Carl Fletcher’s promise to clean up his disciplinary problems, and is also pleased with the commitment and wholeheartedness the player has shown. These probably influenced the decision to appoint him as stand-in captain.

Neil Young, out of contract this summer has resumed training and hopes to be in contention for a reserve game in early February.

Former player Howard Goddard has left Whitchurch United after only a short while in the manager’s seat.
