Pitman ..... Move or No Move?

Over the past few days Brett Pitman was alledgedly off to Blackpool, and then not.

It all started with the two clubs eventually agreeing a fee (in the region of £600k?) for the Cherries prolific scorer after the Cherries initially rejected the first approach from the Tangerines.

With the Clubs agreeing, Pitman travelled to Bloomfield Road for talks to discuss personal terms and to have a physical. The two parties could not agree personal terms. This after the Blackpool Chairman walked out from the Club and Pool boss describing some of his players as "monsters"!

On the potential deal, Cherries Chairmen, Eddie Mitchell was quoted in the Bournemouth Evening Echo as saying: "It was a unanimous board decision. We are pleased for Brett and disappointed for ourselves. We negotiated as hard as we could. I wouldn’t say we’re happy with the figure but it’s a combination of two things – getting the best for the club and for the player and I think we went as far as we could. We felt we owed it to Brett to try to reach a negotiated settlement that works for us and is best for his future. I think we did our best and agreed to settle for a figure, providing Brett is happy. Maybe when he gets to Blackpool and has to put on his overcoat, he might come back, in a hurry".

Holloway, when asked about Pitman is quoted as saying: "I will pleased if it gets done and I think Brett epitomises us – a bunch of people who want to make a name for ourselves. I think Brett is fresh and hungry, and wants a chance at a higher level. I believe he can score at any level and I want to give him that opportunity. He plays with style, is a great finisher and has a great technique".

Mitchell has since been quoted as saying that the deal to take Pitman to the Lancashire coast was now dead in the water. But has also confirmed that another club has opened negotiations to sign last seasons leading goal-scorer.
